Ubisoft: 6700K/1700X & 980/Vega56 are REQUIRED for 1080p60 in AC Origins, 1070/V64 for 1440p60

Master Disaster

Ubisoft officially responded to the 100% CPU usage claims over on their forums.

A Ubisoft employee posted the following statement

Quote

Assassin's Creed Origins: Performance Configurations

We closely monitor your feedback and are actively investigating each case brought to our attention so far. Due to the varying setups of PC rigs, we need to assess them individually.

We’ve been asked for a reference as to what hardware you would need to run the game in around 60fps. Below are two configurations of hardware we have used as a benchmark for running the game at 1080p or 1440p.

pc.png

Quote

Hardware of this level or higher is required to meet this performance, however, a combination of these will provide different results. Please also note that your type of PC components should not range too far from each other. For example, if you have a GTX980 but using a processor that is lower than the recommended, you will most likely not be able to meet 60 FPS. We encourage you to reach out to Customer Support and provide us with as much detail as you can such as PC configuration details and dxdiag information.

We will continue to deliver updates whenever the learnings from a specific case can be valuable to everyone.

Lol, users are going nuts asking why Ubisoft post requirements that vastly differ from these before the game launched.

Ubisoft came so far and then they go and do this.

Probably because their games' optimization are terrible so high end machines are required.

I agree the 1440p specs are within range but a 6700K & 980 for 1080p? Something is wrong there.

1440p spec is understandable. 1080p is what gets me.

Well, seems like some never learn...

Funnily enough, some of my Nep friends were discussing over the requirements for Cyberdimension.

Minimum CPU required is a 3770K while the minimum GPU required is a GTX 660 and also 8GB of system memory.

Recommended? Core i7 3770K, GTX 960 and 10GB of system memory.

The game itself doesn't even look all that intensive to need a card that GTA V recommends. The Nep games on PC are just not well-optimized, with one causing my old system's GT 750M to crash after a while.

The Workhorse (AMD-powered custom desktop)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | GPU: MSI X Trio GeForce RTX 2070S | RAM: XPG Spectrix D60G 32GB DDR4-3200 | Storage: 512GB XPG SX8200P + 2TB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda Compute | OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

The Portable Workstation (Apple MacBook Pro 16" 2021)

SoC: Apple M1 Max (8+2 core CPU w/ 32-core GPU) | RAM: 32GB unified LPDDR5 | Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD | OS: macOS Monterey

The Communicator (Apple iPhone 13 Pro)

SoC: Apple A15 Bionic | RAM: 6GB LPDDR4X | Storage: 128GB internal w/ NVMe controller | Display: 6.1" 2532x1170 "Super Retina XDR" OLED with VRR at up to 120Hz | OS: iOS 15.1

Their requirements never specified it was targetting 60. Which is my main gripe with this, it did not explicity said 1080p30 in the requirement notes. The fact the requirements are raised for 60fps means the original ones were meant to be 1080p30 @ high and 720p30 @ low. Honestly, that's the only fault Ubisoft made. And all these conspiracies about VMprotect and Denuvo are absolutely baseless.

Now can we please focus our attention again on their shitty lootboxes instead? You people are so easily distracted, my word.

You reacted to the GTX 980 claim LOL.

They also mentioned Vega56 for 1080p. Which is silly because Vega56 is generally faster than the GTX 1070 which they recommend for 1440p.

I know Ubisoft has a bad history of Nvidia gameworks but still.

Is no one going to notice that there is a massive gap between a GTX 980 and V56? A RX580 is comparable to the GTX 980 and V56 is comparable to a GTX 980Ti.

The below is 1080p very high. Whereas the article talks about merely high settings...

So you obviously don't need to a vega56 for 1080p.

What this game does benefit from on the CPU side is lots of threads as shown below. So i5 users may struggle.

JHRKtox.png

Whether the above requirement of lots of threads is due to genuine game logic, or because it allows the DRM process to be run without taking CPU time from game logic I don't know.

Its an Nvidia Gameworks title so Ubi probably concentrated on optimising for Nvidia cards.

Is this the first game that won't run on g4560+GTX 1050 ti?

Edit: a game that was designed for far weaker console CPUs requires last generations fastest CPU and a modern octa core?Do people even believe them?I'm also surprised they require GTX 1060/Rx 580 and last generations high end to run it at 60 fps (at high details).

I don't like these video's. Youtube compression makes it impossible to tell a visual difference, so they can fuck with the settings.

Or not even display the currect GPU's in the first place.

That's true. It's based on trust.

The chances are that it's true.

K i just had a look at the gameplay for this, there's now way it would require that level of hardware for simple 1080p.

Either someone on Ubisoft screwed up hard and posted the wrong spec requirement or they are doing something really wrong in their optimization.

The same can be aid about any review, you don't know if the person even ran the tests at all or if they just threw a handful of rice at a sheet with some numbers written on it and saw where the rice landed. The smart persons takes an average of many reviews to filter out the bad data.

It's not the first poorly optimized game from Ubisoft. AC Unity and Watch Dogs both run poorly. The fact that they set up such a high requirement means instead of improving their weakness, Ubi is resorting to making people play with better hardware.
