Apple reduces face recognition security accuracy to increase production - Various security branches within O/S?

That's kinda un-Apple to me, honestly.

production problems due to avalability of parts has nothing to do with working technologies.

its like when ram was suddently super expensive because no one had the capabilities to make the chips. due to lack of materials.

Is this just unforeseen unavailability though? It just looks like they're commenting on the growing pains of new tech:

Quote

“That technology is something we have been looking at for five years,” Chief Design Officer Jony Ive said in an onstage discussion hosted by The New Yorker this month. “We had prototypes that were this big,” he added, holding his hands about a foot apart. By the time Apple had greenlighted the iPhone X, the company was looking for technology that could be squeezed into a space a few centimeters across and millimeters deep.

Despite demanding the near impossible, Apple didn’t add extra time to get it right—giving suppliers the typical two-year lead time. The tight schedule underestimated the complexity of making and assembling exceedingly fragile components, said one of the people familiar with the production process. That left suppliers short on time to prepare their factories and explains why the iPhone X is being released a full six weeks later than the iPhone 8, said this person, who asked to remain anonymous to discuss an internal matter. “It’s an aggressive design,” the person said, “and it’s a very aggressive schedule.”

Tech not being small enough for the tolerances of your phones is a very predictable problem of new tech.

Apple to reduce accuracy of its facial recognition security to ensure production can increase.

Reduced accuracy means inconsistency in security hardware/software integration [read: multiple branches of security software versions in the o/s to compensate].  Does this mean that security is now "flexible" within the o/s - capable of different versions within the same o/s version?  Can this now be a backdoor to a security loophole for hacking?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-25/inside-apple-s-struggle-to-get-the-iphone-x-to-market-on-time

Does not follow guidelines

But it would be very disappointing and very un-Apple for them to do it.

Yes, it is.

The Taptic Engine is great. No other phone I've used has that satisfying haptic feedback.

And IMO, while it is the best I've felt on an Android, it's not as satisfying as what I tried on the 7.

Holding them side by side the S8s is more satisfying to me. Its the illusion of a fake button from the recess that makes it feel like a button. but the actually tactile response is tighter on the S8/note 8

Well the S8 has only one function for that home button motor, that’s all it does.

They have ave a standard vibration motor to handle everything else. Apple just using one big one that’s more powerful than 2 separate units because they need the haptic feedback to travel through the whole phone.

It's not really the button but the overall tactile response.

It's the one reason why I like to use 3D Touch and Peek/Pop. Actually, I am in the camp that every phone needs a feature like the latter. I think Samsung could have done that with the Note8's S Pen.
