G.Skill Trident Z RGB for AMD Ryzen & Threadripper

NumLock21

Memory maker G.Skill had just announced their new Trident Z RGB memory kit, designed specifically for AMD Ryzen and Threadripper platforms. These brand new rams are available in the capacity of 16GB and all the way up to 128GB, with ram bundle in 2, 4, or 8 sticks per kit. They start at 2400MHz and can reach up to 3200MHz.

For example:

Quote

The high-capacity 128GB sets can reach speeds up to 2933MHz CL14 while speeds up to 3200Mhz CL14 are possible up to 32GB (4x8GB) setups.

It even supports DOCP for boards that AMD Ryzen or Threadripper boards that supports this feature. Now to tell the difference between these new Trident Z RGB vs the old ones, the new ones will have a X at the end of the product model number. Expected availability for them, should be around October. No price on them yet.

While still on this Trident Z ram, I just noticed some are triple fins and others are dual fins.

I haven't looked much at other high end memory kits but that is insane IMO. Are these timing and frequency combos common in the high end or is this just an amazing piece?

Their current ones can achieve the same specs.

No they are all 3 fins but the due to the last 3 being black it makes it hard to see the bottom fin but its there. you can just make it out if you zoom in.

Anything with b die usually can hit those speeds.

Nice. Their original Ryzen certified are great, the Flare X ones, specially 3200Mhz CL14.

Trident Z RGB is a neat addition, I like the sleek look of these kits, also these are RGB as extra and the best looking ones to add.

I have the 2400 kit (Only one that was/is available locally) but still worked as advertised out of the box even on Agesa 1.0.0.4 which the mobo originally came with. Given how I didn't have any other Ryzen/TR systems I think it was a nice back up kit but I might upgrade to this 16gb 3200 RGB kid.

I want to see how these compare to the "Intel" sticks on Z270

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Dying to get these for my build that I'm buying the parts for this October (very soon). I hope they'll work on B350M boards, though I don't really see why not. The RGB control for these still confuses the crap outta me though. From my reading, if you don't have an Asus board, you're stuck with G Skill's RGB control software which has lots of issues apparently...? The RAM looks great though, I just love it.

I'm using an MSI board right now and Asus Aura works just fine for controlling the RGB lighting of my Trident Z memory. In fact it's more reliable.

I'm very interested on this too, especially since I am having issues with my Ryzen system. Some are listed on the G. Skill website, but you can't buy them yet, hopefully they come out soon.

You don't particularly need it... any Samsung B-Die ram works fine enough with Ryzen.

so in essence the F4-3200C14Q-32GTZR that is the intel kit, works fine at 3200mhz CL14 with Ryzen. The F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX is only supported by threadripper and thus will not work?

It's probably a stupid question, but I don't really understand what the diffrence between the F4-3200C14Q-32GTZR and the F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX.

With F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX you are guaranteed to get the rated RAM speed, in this case 3200 MHz, on AMD boards, not just Threadripper. I don't know if they are backwards compatible with Intel, like how F4-3200C14Q-32GTZR can also work with AMD with a risk of not getting 3200 MHz.
