Apple is revealing the Iphone 8 on the 12th of September

Shreyas1

https://www.theverge.com/2017/8/31/16233998/apple-iphone-8-event-september-12th-invitation

The Iphone 8 will be revealed in less than 2 weeks from the time of writing this!

Apple seems to be keeping a lot of info away from us

Quote

The September 12 event invitation doesn’t reveal much in the way of a teaser. It simply says, “Let’s meet at our place,” a reference to the fact that this is the first event Apple is hosting in the Steve Jobs Theater on its new Apple Park campus in Cupertino. We’ll presumably find out more on September 12th.

IDK if this is good or bad considering the fact that Apple isn't revealing much to us. However, this might mean the Iphone 8 is a disappointment (again).

Picture of apple logo ( many have speculated what the Red, White, and Blue mean. I personally think it means that the Iphones will be manufactured in the USA )

Apple has never revealed anything ahead of time, and most rumors make the iPhone 8 look pretty good (assuming you can get past the rumored price tag).

Noep.

no way apple's losing so much profit for something nobody really expected them to do, and very little people really asked for.

This is exciting. I wouldn't mind upgrading my SE to the larger variant for work and personal use. Hopefully it comes in a 128GB model for $700 or so.

Apple will only make the iPhone in America when it becomes beneficial to the share holders.

There is a reason people don't make stuff in America and probably never will anymore.....You can't compete with someone who will work just for food and maybe shelter!

Besides that I am hyped af for the new iPhone which should look exactly like this according to all the rumors

This is the first iPhone 8, so it's not again. And it certainly won't have a headphone jack, so then it will be disappointing.

Price isn't really an issue for me. Carriers love to subsidies phones with contracts and it was rumored that this would be a strategy for carriers to get more people on them for the long haul.

Also this is the 8, the top of the line. It is highly expected that there will be a 7s and 7s Plus option for those not willing to spend $1,000

Well if import costs are raised high enough and they could get tax benefits to manufacture here I could see them moving a majority of their production back here. Now in the case of Samsung, I figure Samsung Electronics America could be treated more like an importer since I'm not sure how much SEA actually does any designing of the phones at least. NA market TVs and Computers might be a different story. See Apple is an American company making their goods to be sold here in another country and imports them in. Samsung Electronics is Korean.

No iPhone has been subsidized at launch since carriers got rid of contracts afaik.

Yeah, but the 7s/+ are rumored to be incremental improvements on the 7. The 8 is what the 7 really should have been in the first place. So, Apple price hiking the 8 is disappointing.

And it's cheaper to go with the month-to-month plan and pay full price for the phone if you happen to be on Sprint or Verizon -- I haven't checked any other carriers. Also, at least with Verizon, I don't think you can opt back into a contract once you switch to the "My Verizon Plan", which is month to month.

The incremental upgrade part isn't my issue. My issue is that historically Apple has released a new device every other year and on the in-between years done a refresh of sorts. Now they're going to have done three refreshes (6s, 7, 7s) AND added a new device at a higher cost rather than offering a true upgrade like they historically have.

Apparently it's illegal to void warranties for trying to repair stuff now. Never going to be enforced though. And also Samsung is guilty of this too.

Not if you don't have $1,000 spend right now.

Its like a car payment. You don't have enough to spend all right now and get the price lower so you break it up a few bucks every month and pay a little more. Makes the phone accessible, not the cheapest way to get it but it is the easiest.

Well it looks like Apple still uses screws but way more parts that are easy to break and glued down parts it sounds like to past ifixit reviews.

Not if you don't have $1,000 spend right now.

Its like a car payment. You don't have enough to spend all right now and get the price lower so you break it up a few bucks every month and pay a little more. Makes the phone accessible, not the cheapest way to get it but it is the easiest.

Most carriers allow you to spread the cost of the device across 24 months at no extra charge, and if you choose to leave, then you just pay off the remainder of the device. That's still not subsidized, nor is it really a contract.

6s will be axed. The lineup will read 7, 7s, 8.

Only one new iPhone outside of normal.

That's not what I'm saying.....

The 6s was a refresh of the 6. The 7 was a refresh of the 6s. The 7s will be a refresh of the 7. That's three refreshes of a single device (6). Then instead of upgrading the device with a new model, like they historically have done every two years, they add a new tier at a new, higher, price point.

This is only because they were saving ideas for the 8.

Its a combo of the 8 being the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and the 7 being a new number but you still want the iPhone 8 to be really cool and feature packed for the 10th year anniversary.

Lets face it, its going to be the single most radical upgrade to an iPhone in history. No home button, no bezels, OLED, wireless charging, 3D facial scanning, and the design itself is a pretty radical departure. These are all new for Apple.

If the iPhone 8 costs $1000, I think I'd go with the 7s+. I won't mind if the 7s+ would keep using the IPS LCD panel as long as they keep the dual cameras and stereo speakers and the same price as the 7+.
