Help me choose b/w a samsung s24 ultra & an Iphone 15 pro max

Recently my one plus 9 pro just killed itself showing no signs of life even to the extent of not heating up when charging (which is normal for most phones) so I've absolutely abandoned it and have removed myself as an advocate for why one plus is a decent phone company.

Now to the indecisiveness of what is going to be my next phone my mind is completely split between the s24 ultra and the 15 pro max because of the pros and cons of each phone, the s24 has advertised 7 years of software updates as with the Iphone which is one of my main concerns, I also have an interest in phone photography and videography hence I'm not too sure on which to pick because 90% of the comparisons online repeat the same thing
"IT ALL COMES DOWN TO PERSONAL PREFERENCE" which allows them to be in the safe zone from both android and iOS stans, as I've said I've heard the cameras are pretty similar and the only thing that separates them is the longevity of the battery life over time somehow the Iphone with a lower battery life lasts longer.
I've always heard complains about the Iphone just being a phone with a big name also known as the apple name tax and Samsung is more of a peoples company. Ultimately what it comes down to personally is the ability of the phone to last long with no hardware nor software issues plus no hindrances in its performance over time.
If you guys could give me a solutions it'd be amazing, appreciate it in advance.

Depending on where you live, Samsung might be offering pretty crazy trade-in deals and they allow trading in completely broken and non-functional phones for a hefty discount. So you may end up getting your S24 Ultra for like 60% of the price of the 15 Pro.

You're thinking way too much into this, my god.  First you overdramaticize the failure of a product, without any information as to how OnePlus handled it (did you even reach out try to fix?).  One unknown product issue does not crash a company.

Now you're vacillating between Samsung or iPhone which are both the cream of the crop for cell phones in 2024, so why wouldn't it be a personal preference?  The differences are minuscule and rest more on the ecosystem than any particular performance metric.

If you like Android, get Samsung.  Apple, iPhone.   They're both incredible phones.

If you’re worried about money, then the iPhone is the way to go. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is cheaper than the ultra. They’ll likely get the same software support. If you like ai, then the Ultra is the way to go.

I have multiple reasons about why One plus has ruined it's rep my entire family owns a OnePlus phone and all of them have had issues and mine was the last and there's no point reaching out to help because i do work with PC's on a daily and i tried using a external power source using a normal rewired DC power supply still no signs of life and reached to the conclusion of it being a hardware issue so the MB comes to about $370 which is not worth it because I once changed the screen for the green line which was $240, so yea the reputation in MY opinion has reduced drastically.

About the iPhone and Samsung I know they're both great phones but as i stated above how long will they be great phones, nothing good lasts forever and I would prefer the one that beats the other.

edit: I have reached out for multiple one plus devices that i own and would not recommend the customer service at-least where I reside .

I don't know what numbers you're looking at but the base configuration of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is $1199, and the Ultra is $1300
