The NSA tracks peoples' porn habits in order to discredit "radicalizers"

In the latest leak from Snowden it is reviled that the NSA keeps a record of what porn some people watch. The reason for saving this is so that they can use it to harm the reputation of people the agency believes are radicalizing others through incendiary speeches.

Six of the targets (all being Muslims) are being used as examples of how the NSA exposes their sexual fetishes as an attempt to undermine their credibility. Basically, they are trying to go "Don't blow up out buildings please, look, your leader is looking at porn! Don't take orders from someone who looks at porn!".

I wonder how many peoples' porn habits they are monitoring.

However, I am against the NSA using the data collected against people with a certain mindset.

No matter how derogatory their opinion is, who am I to judge? they should just be shunned by society automatically rather than the NSA going "Oh, look, Jimmy watches porn. hahahaha [giggle giggle]"

 

Resulting to childish things isn't what the government should be doing. However, if it is effective, who cares? It's not my browser history [besides which, mine isn't that bad].

Not for watching porn; for their [quite frankly] racist, sexist and pro-violence beliefs. Even though I generally stand up for people with different beliefs than ourselves, such malice mindsets are doing nothing but harm.

This is just silly. If I were an American I would be seriously pissed right now about how my government spends my money watching the porn that other people are watching.

 

On the other hand, this caught my eye:

 

"NSA believes the targeted individuals radicalize people through the expression of controversial ideas via YouTube, Facebook and other social media websites.".

 

So the "expression of controversial ideas" is indoctrination and radicalization. What is a "controversial idea", in NSA's opinion? Someone saying in their youtube channel that what NSA is doing is breaking the most basic of human right qualifies as an "expression of controversial ideas"? Is saying that NSA Director General Keith Alexander is a felon for lying to the Congress and should get a much, much harsher punishment than retirement a "controversial idea"? It scares me that the door to abuse is so wide-open.

Yeah, shame on him for risking his life for the American citizens that deem him a traitor for merely lifting the curtain of lies that lulled the populous into a false sense of security.
