'Typically'.

I had a debit card from 13. They're called junior accounts, and a lot of people these days have them.

Nor do I see how a porn site can run checks on my card to find I'm over the age limit and allowed to satisfy my fetishes but w/e

I just watched a BBC documentary about the huge alcoholism problem in the UK. They should rather put a warning label on alcohol drinks just like with tobacco. But yeah it is easier to create a porn age check because there is no lobby to bribe the politicians.

lmao good job Brit bongs; what a waste of taxpayer money

Let's be real, any kid who's mildly tech-savvy and horny enough will easily find alternative routes around this "credit-card block" in order to see pornography

what is this going to do to sites like reddit? not every subreddit has porn. are you going to have to enter your card and be 18+ to access the entire site now, or somehow just individual subreddits? good luck keeping up with that.

if i was the porn industry, id just say okay black list us. its just gonna piss everybody off and they will change the regulation eventually when nobody in government can watch porn anymore.

Who's going to monitor the credit card companies to insure they're not issuing credit cards to children? I read an article not long ago where a guy (US) got a card for his dog with a $2000 credit limit. I think he intercepted an application sent to his daughter who was a college student. They target college students here, knowing they're broke, and vulnerable.

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

It's not that easy here, as there is a minimum age of 18 for owning one, when your between 13 and 18 you can only get a debit card, and you need parental permission for that if your under 16

1) yes that probably would work

2) yes and no, you need to be 18 get a credit card and then give the details of said card to a dodgy company which may or may not steal/sell your information about the card for unknown uses costing you money as you need to explain to the bank or company, how it was possible for the money to steal the money

3) solution yes, but the main issue I find is the fact they also plan to block the websites that don't comply which is borderline censorship, which can be expanded from this one topic to many many others until the government has instead of a blacklist of websites you have a whitelist, this all sounds ridiculous, but entirely possible for it to happen

The problem is young kids being subject to content before they are developmentally ready right?  Then why not simply hold the parents/caregivers responsible rather than punishing everyone else?

Oh my gosh! You just gave me an idea. Beer cans that require you to solve integrals to be able to open the can! That would be hilarious. You know you're drunk when you can't pop the top!
