Next are the hackers inside Starbucks. Using tools like Wireshark, usernames and passwords are easily readable to the hacker.

This is one of the reasons why social media accounts of celebrities get's hacked.

Yes, China is trying to ban VPNs - or rather, actually enforce an existing ban. This would not be that bad on its own (although it would sill be censorship), but VPNs were one of the last tools left to access OTHER websites China is censoring, such as gmail and twitter.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I mean I have a VPN on my phone and TBH, its the only device that I need a VPN however, I guess having one on my laptop won't hurt :D

Do you really want the Chinese govt seeing what you do on the internet? The real problem is that they block many western websites so people use VPNs to circumvent this. 

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

Majority of the email providers in China are unencrypted so their government can easily intercept the inbox contents of their users.

Nobody said security through obscurity. They could easily pick and choose what security measures and encryption the government uses including open source. The thing is just that you can't use it and if laws are put in place like in China, your ISP can do everything in its power to block your VPN or other measures and if you manage to get around it, your ISP can still see that you use a VPN and pass that info onto law enforcement who can show up on your address to arrest you for breaking the law.

 

Backdoors aren't necessary if there is no security on private devices however private entities can still try to find or create backdoors or other weapons like they do now; most targets would just be government systems.

 

Sounds very dystopian but apparently some states including China has the urge and even the need to move towards such a society and it changes the foundation of technology (especially the internet) in the affected states.

 

The NSA leaks were a product of a relatively open internet with all that entails creating an environment where EternalBlue can happen. China would be a much harder environment to operate in.

This is why I miss when the WAN show is just called the Live Show. Duration is often an hour and a half to two hours.

Let's say Matthew is a Chemistry major in college and is looking for the pathways how methamphetamine for example is synthesized for his organic chemistry homework, the cops can use his browsing history as a probable cause to search his house even without warrant or worse, have him put to jail for something he didn't do.
