Is Apple easier than Android?

Yes, iOS is easier, but only because it's limited. I've been using an iPhone SE for the past year and boy I must say feels good to be on the Apple ecosystem, even if sometimes you'd want to hang Tim Cook for some of those limitations. A few years ago I was happy to mess with the settings of Android and play with, wreck it and fix it, now my life is a bit more boring and I don't have so much energy about these kind of things.

I'm happy to see the general consensus around here is the correct one: Yes, iOS is more simple, is not better than Android, they're different and we should be glad we have at least 2 really opposite sides to choose. I sure wish Apple would bring the fight to Windows in gaming... We believe in you Metal 2!

Locked or unlocked, iPhones don't have to do anything.

Turn it on, sign in/create account (or don't) and wham you're done. Nothing is there that shouldn't be.

Well the new 2017 iMac basically has an RX 580 in it, but to get the best out of it you need to be in Windows. Not to mention the way MacOS handles resolution and DPI scaling and seeing how badly Steam handles high DPI displays* don't give me much hope.

*I have te 2016 base 13" MBP and most games only recognize 1440x900p because that is the default scaling resolution for my display. It kinda sucks but its not like the Iris 540 GPU could do much better in 3D games. Only 2D games that are supposed to look pretty on anything let me down.

When Android can be tweaked to every user's wants and needs, with what isn't actually that much work, or ROMs swapped without needing to break the device's firmware, no, it really can't.

This is a personal problem, you not liking iOS is a personal problem, me not liking Android is a personal problem.

Get over it.

I use iOS because its the best for me. You use Android because you can tinker with it. I do that enough with my PC and my MacBook.

Yeah I mean even in the best case scenario we're still years away from MacOS coming close to Windows in that area, but one can only hope... I just feel really uncomfortable knowing I can only use 1 SO (because the software I use is not on MacOS). I don't like to depend on 1 source in anything... Metal 2 is a great start, now we need Apple to do something more about hardware

For my personal S8, yes. For my work S8, nope. Hell, my work S8 is as it came out of the box as far as apps and settings go, and it just works (tm), just like iOS does for those that want a bitch basic (tm pending) device.

To me, Android can easily do both bitch basic and enthusiast tweaking without any compromises between either. iOS can only do bitch basic. To most people, Android does bitch basic just as well as iOS.

Well iMacs have dGPUs now (thank god they aren't laptop chips anymore) so they are clearly waking up about the need for power and not to mention they are all cheaper than the previous models.

So it is possible for the iMac to become more gaming oriented, however the direction that the MacBook is headed doesn't make me think Apple wants to go their on their mobile platform.

As a stand alone device you might be right, but I have multiple devices in my life.

My Windows Desktop, my MacBook, my iPhone, my Apple Watch, and my iPad.

An Android phone would score a 1 out of 4 on my compatibility scale while an iPhone scores 4 out of 4.

Android doesn't make sense for me. Its a fragmented platform with little to no support for the platform I choose to use.

You could say I'm "locked in" when in reality 99% of my content is transferable, just not my apps. The problem is that Android works well with everything not Apple, and I use most everything Apple because Imo, its the superior ecosystem.

I think there's a case to make that iOS is easier for those who need the simplest possible system and who would be prone to mistakes if given the freedom to customize. But in my opinion Android is a lot closer to a traditional Windows/MacOS/Linux interface and might be a cleaner transition for people who are familiar with basic modern computing.

The only thing I don't like about iOS is that you need iTunes to transfer files around (or go through iCloud). You can plug your iDevice to the computer to transfer photos from it, but nothing more.

And I refuse to install iTunes on my computer unless it's contained in its own little world.
