nice status update but anyway idk, sure some of what he makes is a bit fun but im here for info mainly and he is pretty shit at that at the moment but i can undsestand his resoning for that too. i find the content entertaining never the less

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

That's a good thing IMHO.

I'd love LTT to go back to indepth videos, but I really feel @LinusTech has to do what he has to do in terms of growing the numbers (He's said this is unfortunately the way the game is played on many occasions, and he's right). I also feel a lot of more "in depth" stuff came from videos where @Slick had more input/hosted, which obviously is reduced now due to him growing and developing FPC.

If I need to the bone depth on a certain product that LTT reviews/makes glorious B-Roll of, then I can always come here for more info from the community.

I think a more fair analysis would be that @LinusTech has become the tech equivalent of Neil Degrasse Tyson. Linus is now a tech educator, making videos entertaining to get people "through the door" as it were. Keeping them there and informing them at the same time is definitely his forte. Many youtubers can provide slide after slide of specs and metrics... but nobody entertains me with it at the same time as LTT.

My Two Cents (Not Jayz) xD

There are more people contributing to our projects than ever before. And everyone brings their own quirky style.

We also have more time to work on things, which means we could finish our videos to the same standard as before, then put our feet on the desk for the rest of the day.. or we can spend more time making them better than ever.

I hope it's obvious which one we chose :P

will slick ever come back to host

I really liked him and you linus :P

also have you ever thought about having a whole range of hosts?

I know you might get some backlash but having alot more people host would be a nice change from linus and weird thumbnails

Also whenever brandon hosts a video its so crispy(you need more of that)

I mean technically having taran for the bike videos brandon for like 1 camera vid every like year and edzel randomly is a thing

but I would like more of a rotating cast of hosts I guess(I also want slick back)

Well now I feel bad about what I said since Linus himself replied to the thread, I don't know about the funnier part but that great great video towards Intel's x299 surely shown how LTT is still serious enough to criticize when needed to and that was deeply appreciated to watch [:

It's not funnier but it's less mature. For some people that might be funnier but for some it might be more annoying.

Yup, Linus is a grown adult and can take criticism easily as he is used to it. Its just getting a little long in the tooth for these silly thumbnails, and silly costumes, and food props (milk + patatoe). That should be aimed directly at Channel Super Fun where the median age is much much lower.

IMHO, Linus is the tech tube equivalent of the college kid who wants to be funny but isnt and just ends up annoying a shit ton of people
