One is owned by Fiat, the other is not.

 

Personally I prefer Ford to Dodge thanks to a more cohesive line up of cars to buy, better reliability, and a nicer design aesthetic.  And unlike Dodge, Ford offers a smaller and midsize car to buy.  Not everyone wants a 707 horsepower Charger.

Ford > Dodge , The Fiesta and Focus line up are amazing, Not to mention the new Ranger is doing stupidly well worldwide going toe to toe with the Hilux and Amarok. 

 

Dodge isn't huge in SA or NZ and every one I've sat in felt really cheap and the engines felt like I'd be better off having a Horse pulling the car where as I owned two of Fords ST models and make no mistake the interiors aint Audi Levels they felt a ton more solid than the dodge.

Can I choose Mercury? It's basically Ford, but better*. But Ford killed Mercury in 2011 (or was it 2010?). I've got a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, and I love it! Better than any Explorer I've seen so far.

Depends on the truck I'm looking for.  If I'm looking for a mid sized or compact truck.  Dodge over Ford.  Sure, the Dakotas and Rangers aren't made anymore, but the Dodge Dakota was better.  (I also have one).  If were talking about full sized trucks like 3/4 ton and full ton trucks, like the 250/350/2500/3500... Ford every time then, if I don't have the option for Chevy.

 

But if you're just talking about cars, the only two things from Ford or Dodge I care about are the Mustang and Challenger, and I'd pick the Mustang each time.

Nah, too fancy for my tastes. I'm happy with my dual zone A/C, AWD, and V8. I don't need anything fancier, except an HUD (gonna add that eventually) and an awesome sound system.

For 3/4 ton and up, their trucks trade blows for reliability and power. Ride comes down purely to personal preferance.

For 1/2 tons, Ford makes a better consumer truck, Dodge/RAM makes better trucks for work.

For cars, it depends on the exact model, some from both sides are worthless shit, others are pretty good.

 

Just don't get a Silverado.

The MKX is a gorgeous vehicle though, and a world more fuel efficient than the Explorer platform (which gets worse fuel economy than a much larger Range Rover). A HUD would be nice, wish there were more companies making aftermarket ones.

You don't like the Silverado? I've only been in one a few times, but it was a nice truck. A little rough of a ride though, for a 1/2 ton.

I remember when I was younger the local logging company switched Ford for Chevy. Within a couple months almost every brand new Chevy had a cracked frame. They went back to using the 10 year old Fords. I've seen Dodge trucks get stuck in pretty shallow mud puddles...

Looks meh to me, like a bent out of shape Explorer (and I don't like the new explorer body as much as the old ones), but if you like it, then good for you!

I look at it as more of a complete package. The interior, exterior, drivetrain, etc. I do wish they'd done more with the lower portions...it's like they designed from the top down and gave up 80% of the way to the end. "Just cap the rest in black plastic."

Though the newer ones (that I can't afford) fixed that.

 

How bads the fuel economy in yours? My dads Explorer was awful.

I own fords and have had good luck with them the only dodge i would ever consider buying is a challenger cause they look great.

Mine is about 17-18mpg on the highway, it gets down to 11.6 sometimes. Though my right foot is pretty heavy, so...
