Warranty Void If Waterblock on Founders Edition?

If I put a water block on the 1080 Ti founders edition (from any brand) will it void the warranty? Are there only specific brands that will let you?

Evga is the only brand that I know that wont void the warranty

It depends on the brand's warranty. So check with them.

Long solution get a lawyer to force them rma it

what are you gonna do? spend tens of thousands of dollars on a legal battle with a company instead of ponying up a few hundred for a new GPU.

send them a angry letter and they will probably fix it for you. They dont' want to spend the money on legal stuff, and then they have to pay your legal fees.

EVGA doesn't care as long as you don't break the card from a defective/improperly installed block. Any other company legally in the US can't do jack unless you break something by using the waterblock.

No, manufacturing defects are the real purpose of warranty. If your block leaks and breaks something that isn't covered under any GPU warranty.

So what does water cooling have to do with a manufacture defect?

That's my point, they aren't related therefore it s legally covered under warranty in the US even if the manufacturer claims that your entire warranty is void because you swapped the cooler

As long as you put back stock cooler and don't damage your card, there shouldn't be any problem.

I bought EVGA, because they clearly stated, that this doesn't void warranty for them. Other brands didn't say that, but still shouldn't be a problem.

 

Just to be safe, go with EVGA.

All cards have a warranty so brand wouldn't matter at that point. So he shouldn't care which card he gets if he's gonna watercool.

EVGA allow you put water block on it and if you have a problem with your card all they ask is that  you return it to them as it was sold too you i.e put the original back plate and heatsink back on it.
