Is this site friendlier to newcomers than places like...

GameFAQs, i remember not being taken seriously and belitled because i was new there for quite some time.

I would really like to join this community but i need to know.

Is it toxic towards newcomers?

Most of us are generally friendly from what I've seen. At the very least, you'll be given some lead to whatever inquiry you have.

 

Though there are some topics that people feel strongly about. You'll probably figure what those are on your own. Best to not respond to those people unless you have a flame shield capable of staying on Venus for more than 5 minutes.

For the most part people on this forum are pretty nice as far as I can see. Although there are some that have very set opinions that they feel extremely strongly about. When encountering these rare creatures, simply douse your computer in holy water and purify it with salt and fire. No, but seriously, most people on here are pretty cool about newcomers. They'll help you with just about anything you need, and do it nicely.

Man... Gamefaqs used to be my homepage for the longest time. I still visit somewhat regularly just to vote in their daily poll but yeah, that site has died down to a bunch of elitists and trolls.

 

It used to be handy like 15 years ago, now it's pretty worthless trying to get any advice on the forums.

I joined late last year and I feel like everyone is pretty helpful and laid back. I have been in those threads though where people start to get really heated like the one about nintendo and their graphics

I used to also, but I find sites like levelskip much more helpful.

It's very good, they go pretty in depth on their guides and I find them very useful. For instance, I had no clue on how to do the incredibly complex Origins easter egg on Black Ops 2 zombies, and they had a comprehensive guide on it that really helped out, and I was able to memorize it using the steps on there.

Best advice would be is to find out for yourself, i think even if there wasn't a COC explicit stating to be good towards forum members, the huge majority of the forum users are really friendly & approachable, But don't let it fool you into thinking all will be courteous , when you tickle the sensitive topics name callings starts & moves into thread locks as such  & when it gets worse some triggered maniac assholes may PM insults , IIRCC some made threads on this in the past years , Moderation is seriously good(they discuss with other mods before taking action , not just a dictatorship kinda thing , reduces the chance of one going out on a power trip out of personal anger issues)  , do use the report button when you have to if you are being verbally attacked unfairly , usually resolves most problems , but you have to be right  as well.

I believe so, I have only ever had 1 very heat up argue with someone in here which was with @done12many2 and afterwards we end up getting very along and I consider him one of my "friends" in here [:

 

So dealing with people is the same everywhere, not all are roses but if you stay long enough you will find those you go more along and have a very good social experience with every one.

 

@Damascus and I started somewhat together and we really "look up" for each others as we often agree on our ideas, this kind of bound building even if not too intimate is what makes a good forum worth visiting ^^

No, absolutely not, we are a close-minded, hostile bunch of c/*$s. Don't you ever dare have a grammatical mistake in your post or ask about anything basic that 5 seconds of searching on Google would answer, or else we will tear you apart, belittle you publicly, find out where you live and tell your family and friends what a dumb p$/*k you are and make sure you shall never ever show your face in public or browse on the internet ever again.
