$3500 PC, FX 9590

SethAFitzgerald

I've finally finished planning my build so I am going to start off this thread with my parts list and a few pictures of the components. I am still waiting to receive the CPU, Motherboard, and cooler.

The only thing that may be changed is the power supply since I am not a fan of the color (brown doesn't go with the rest of the build.)

Parts list and prices

AMD FX 9590 ($419)

Cooler Master Eisberg 240L ($150)
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z ($225)

Plextor M5 PRO Xtreme 256GB ($227)

OCZ Vertex 450 256GB ($220)

Western Digital SE 4TB ($260)

Western Digital SE 4TB ($260)

AMD Radeon 290X ($560)

AMD Radeon 290X ($560)

Asus USB Wi-Fi Adapter ($50)

Fractal Design Arc XL ($130)

In Win Commander III 800W ($100)

Windows 8.1 ($100)

Total: $3,436 not including tax or other little accessories

I will update with more pictures this week, building will start this week as well. Just waiting on the last couple components.

If you're spending $400 on a processor, Intel is far superior. $400 for an overclocked 8320? Bullshit. I am not criticizing you, just AMD. Nice build though.

Cool! That's a pretty sweet build. I'd love to see some waterblocks on those 290xs though!

I agree. It's almost not worth it, but it isn't just an overclocked 8320. It's a higher binned 8320.

I just happened to already have the CPU coming in the mail (for review) and I already had one GPU at my house (for review from AMD.) So, I'm really only spending money for the motherboard and extra GPU which is why I did not go with Intel.

Ah, okay. Interesting. I do like it though :)

Just like how the i7 4770k is an i5 4670k?

You're just asking AMD to lock the 8320 clocks at 4.2GHz... Enjoy the open company while you can.

(Also, you know not all 83x0 parts can get to over 4.8GHz.)

That is the biggest concern of mine, I have never done a custom water cooling setup before (not that I think it would be too difficult.) However, I knew it would require more than a regular air cooler, from what I can tell, the 240L liquid cooler will be enough.

I may end up custom cooling anyways for the two GPUs. I have time and a little more money so may as well go all out.

Ish. The 9590 is just an overclock 8320. there aren't really even any extra features over an 8320. Whereas an i7 has a bunch more features on than an i5.

I had a H100i the first time I put in the FX heat monster... Standard clocks its coped at idle but would turn into a wind tunnel as soon as you do anything that puts a bit of load on the system... And no hope of an OC...

So I did this

Your right no extra features apart from the fact FX9590 is  28% faster...  at standard clocks...

I've already said, the 9590 isn't just an overclocked 8320.

An i7 just has the feature switch flipped on.

My 8350 cannot go over 4.6GHz with out going absolutely crazy with voltages. (I might be doing something wrong, but a 9590 would come out of the box 10% faster.)

You cannot go over 4.6 without high voltages because you haven't got the best of chips. AMD pick out the best 8320's as you said. Other than that there is no difference.

I've been reading a lot on the 9590's power consumption and heat, starting to wonder if I would be better off overclocking an 8350 which I already have at my house?

If I overclock it and get it near the 9590 seems like it will be nearly as good in performance and then I will use left over money for other things?

Thoughts?

Just get a 8350 or save your self the few bucks and get a 8320 and OC,I suppose.

Has anyone noticed that he has 2400mhz RAM.Please tell me why you need that unnecessary speed of RAM.

You might already know this, but it doesn't scale like that.

He's better off with an 8350, it's not that much more for a chance at a much better binned chip.

He should have... He should have...

He already has the CPU coming.

No more talk of what he should have got... Its too late now..

Should be a great build, although I'd also look into making those GPU's quieter or cooler unless your a headphone prone user.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Ok sorry I'll edit that I forgot that 8320 to 8350 is kind like from non-k to K skew from Intel.

Again, something that I had received free of charge for review purposes. Had I been forced to buy all of these parts with my own money, maybe I'd be using slightly more "efficient" components but I might as well use what I have.
