Just gonna point out a couple things.

"According to TweakTown, a YouTuber uploaded a video, which has since been taken down. Hexus has spotted a Vimeo link which remains active though, and you can see a brief screenshot of the benchmark results, as well as the moment the team breaks the record."

  • TweakTown is full of shit mostly
  • The video was deleted, which is suspicious
  • TweakTown is full of shit

It is Austin evens video, and it showed this at the AMD event. But that was not allowed in the video so it got taken down and Edited out.

The video was deleted because of NDA. It was a video from Austin, he showed them overclocking it + hitting the new cinebench score, and he also showed a system that was running a Vega gpu, which he also had to remove for the reuploaded video.

No... I just noticed that this score is considerably lower than the one in Austin's video.... I guess that this is because they used a lower BCLOCK this time.....

Doesn't break world record for 8 cores even... lowly 5960x is still on top.

BTW the way all these super overclocking things work, the 6900k has had basically no one bother trying to OC it because the 6950x exists...

Article has no proof at all, article also claims that record was previously 2410.... And wow... going from a 2445 to a 2449 wow. Much wow.

Video link has a highest score under 2350....

Don't get me wrong. This is still great news... but it isn't what people are claiming it is.

AMD's smartest move in all of this was pushing the embargo/NDA all the way up to the day of release.  Speculation and bullshit fuels pre-order sales.  Those pre-order sales stats are then used to fuel follow-on sales.

So far, I've heard everything from Ryzen beating the 7700k in single-threaded performance to Ryzen beating a 6950x in multi-threaded performance.  AMD is loving this shit right about now.  xD

Bud, you can say anything you want.  It's the internet.  As long as you have a website and pictures on it, some idiot will label it credible.

Lol I don't believe anything in this situation, you're preaching to the choir. I was just pointing out that the guy made the same mistake I did, looking at the picture that showed ryzen at 5.2ghz with a non-record score. One would think the picture would reflect what the article is about, but it doesn't have a screenshot of the apparent record score of 2449.

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.
