Kodi is getting a UWP version and is coming to Xbox One soon

Yep, the UWP version of the very popular media player Kodi will be available to XB1 users when it launches meaning the app has now gone full circle and ended up back on the platform where it began.

There are ways of getting Kodi onto your Xbox one right now but this will be official support and will allow XB1 users official access to the app.

Well IMO Kodi is amongst the best media players available but with its huge library of add one it can do so much more than any other media player app.

Man. I really hope this works as well as the desktop one. That would completely eliminate my desire for a true desktop in the living room as Kodi is the only other thing I'd really want.

could you immagine if it could also access your game library and launch games from discs while also be able to use it's own overlay when in game?

Then all it would need is a blades theme and finally the xbox would actually be worth something

Its interesting that they are doing this, but i have little interest in having a UWP or xbox version of kodi. I somewhat expect the only reason they are doing this is that it is likely not a whole lot of work to rebuild using those libraries. I guess whatever gives them more publicity and money is good for me. So long as their linux client is just as good as it has been for ages.

I didn't say it could be installed but you can get an android tv box, install Kodi onto that then plug in into the HDMI input of your XB1 and use the Watch TV function to see Kodi.

I'm sure its not ready for Xbox but it definitely already exists.

Yes, the UWP app has been out for a while and I have it running on PC, but I don't think it was available on Xbox. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). From my understanding, it'll soon be available on the Xbox since most of the bugs have been squashed out by now.

Yea i never really understood the point of that your just using hdmi passthrough just change the input and watch it from the android box?

Because you can go from a game to Kodi just by saying "Xbox, watch TV" I suppose (assuming you've got kinnect) but yeah, its a little convoluted to say the least.

i think it's the logical step seeing "xbox media center" can now finally officially go on xbox..

The UWP version is a converted app using Project Centennial.

 

It is not a native UWP app. It is being ported to be a native UWP app and thus will be getting Xbox Support in the process.

That has been removed to my knowledge. It's just Cortana on the Xbox One now.

If you're using an HDMI equipped DVR, the XBOne can supposedly enhance the experience by supplementing some DVR features with more 'advanced' versions.

 

Also, it's a nice thing to have if one doesn't have any additional ports on their TV (my 42" Vizio only has 2, my old 32" only had 2, and I would run out from the 4 on my 48"). For certain consoles, such as an Nvidia Shield, WiiU, or PSTV, the small amount of extra latency isn't much of an issue either, as most games available to them don't really get hampered by a bit of extra post processing.
