maxwell likes Faster CPU speeds for Valley

Don't think I'm so much interested in OC'ing my cpu. Although I'll take that into consideration for future reference. :)

Hell, I may have a beast of an overclocker and never know it. ha

@Jumper118 can you fix ablangc's GPU speeds? Makes the chart look funny when his cards are running at lower clocks etc.

 

I think he said he was at 1501 mhz on the core?

Yeah I was thinking that same thing to.  Those are the correct speeds as posted max on GPUz

I was making some tests today. I think can go higher.

Voltage 1262mV

GPU Clock 1200mhz

New high score! Had the temps at 57 max @ 100% fan speed. I see what you guys mean by thermals being everything. Damn I can't wait to water cool this baby. :)

That's kinda weird. :/ I think I could've pushed it even further but I gotta eat dinner. :P it seems once it hits the 60-ish mark I lose my boost then it crashes. So if I can keep it around 57-59 I think I can squeeze more out of it. My boost was a stable 1454 and I wasn't surpassing my power limit.

Good stuff! Did you tinker around with the voltage? How much voltage can be applied on stock bios? I've never messed with the voltage so I assume doing so gives you more leeway in OC'ing, correct? And damn that overclock on your CPU. :)

Max voltage on EVGA Precision X will allow.  +87mV

 

As for my CPU, I overclock it when benchmarking so I am technically running 4.8 GHz

Generally Nvidia allows a max of +87mV on most cards... Some like my 650ti, can use +100mV, but for some reason it jumps between 87 and 100... :/

Man do I wish I had a i7 4770k or 4790k that could hit 4.6-4.7GHz at 1.35v or less... My Xeon is a bit slow in Valley for my 970. But my 970 has some damn good scaling for Maxwell. :)

Planning on ordering a 970 to replace the now deceased 760. Gonna go for a G1 Gaming, but does their warranty still stand if you remove the heatsink? I'd like to get the stock thermal paste off ASAP for some better temps

I don't know, pretty sure EVGA doesn't care seeing I didn't see a screw with a sticker over it for my heatsink. Could always just ask gigabyte.

EVGA will let you do anything with the cooler. As long as when it comes to a RMA that you put it on again.

EVGA will let you do anything with the cooler. As long as when it comes to a RMA that you put it on again. 

I've seen people put water blocks on them and can just return the card with the original heatsink if it needs to be RMA'd. Wonder why other companies won't follow EVGA...

Bit the bullet and ordered a G1 970, should be alright for RMA as long as the stock cooler is on. Just gotta hope she clocks well so I can get somewhere
