I could probably pull a couple more Mhz out of the memory but to get anything more out of the core I need to get a modded Bios.

Honestly Hynix is better overall for GPU's then Samsung as Hynix has tighter timings for GPU memory.

I don't think timings matter much on GPU's when samsung at times does 8000-8800 on 970's and 980's, and hynix can barely break 7600.

It does thats why the KPE 780 was that much better as it was binned Samsung for tights timing with best overall speed from it. Hynix is a very very picky memory IC for GPU's as were Eplida is 100% shit.

I don't think I've seen Samsung memory on ref cards. I'm sure Gigabyte will have it and EVGA's higher brands.

I'm gonna do some more testing in a bit and see if I can beat my high score. Pretty good first run followed by mediocre runs.

I don't think many Maxwell ref cards will have Samsung. One of my 770's had Samsung it did better on the core but worse on the memory. As were my Hynix 770 did better on the memory by 110-120Mhz more but did about 40MHz worse on the core.

I remember that thread all to well but I went even to the stock BIOS 14.12 Omega drivers and sit still says es eh its still the 280 gaming though just now labled as an ES

i have my cpu at stock. Not gonna overclock as 4GHz is plenty enough. Plus I find GPU overclocking much more fun. I'm gonna see if I can hit +300 core and +400 memory. I tried it before but it just couldn't do it. Maybe upping the fan to 85-90% will help keep my boost speed. Or my core/memory is too much of a wuss.

Right now I'm only able to get 290 core and 395 memory. I think I'm running into power issues now since I'm already pulling 114% tdp, I might just settle for 4th place right now and then get a modded bios and see how far I can get it on air.

Lets hope you get lucky and get them to 1900-2100, Hynix seems to be TERRIBLE for Maxwell GPU's untill you use the Titan X which comes with only Hynix.

Those clocks are only stable in Valley.  I use those settings on 3dmark or Heaven and it freezes instantly.  It is kind of frustrating because I think I find a stable setting in 3dmark and it crashes playing a GTA V.  I do not want to use Furmark because of hearsay (negative reviews) on people using it.

@Jumper118 can you fix ablangc's GPU speeds? Makes the chart look funny when his cards are running at lower clocks etc.

 

I think he said he was at 1501 mhz on the core?

Yeah I was going up to 111% power at max 110%. I may have to adjust voltage a bit and see what more I can squeeze out of it.

Don't think I'll ever mod the bios as I'm deathly afraid of creating a $650 dollar paperweight. I don't have another $650 laying around for another.
