I wouldn't wear slippers outside - they're just not designed for that, though there are tons of slip-on shoes that you can buy without having to worry about charging them ;)

Honestly judging from the video it defeats the whole purpose. You still have to bend over and press buttons to tie them in. I bought a stack of rubber shoelaces and I just replace regular ones on new shoes I buy. Haven't tied a shoelace in more than 3 years and I don't need to press any buttons to do so. Useless product.

it is so noisy, goddamn. Are we really getting that lazy that we would rather push a button than tie our shoes. God damn, this is stupid and not very well made.

If they wanted to do this right, then they should have made it with a app with profiles for the fit and then make it fast, so one sec after you press the button they are "tied".

yeah I know that, but this one is not. Ever since we saw shoes that could do that in back to the future, fans have been begging nike to make them, so I would not say that it is the desire to do less work that drives Nike, more lots of fans willing to put a lot of money down for the shoes.

There's plenty of things you use which would make previous generations moan about us becoming/being lazy. Granted, this isn't exactly the greatest thing, but you've gotta start somewhere right? After all, computers used to be huge and weighed stupidly large amounts, but now we can hold one in our hands that weighs less than 100 grams. It's just the first step to a better product for the future.

Though that being said, laces have never really caused me any problems. When I'm at work I'll tie my boots once, maybe twice a day. And honestly, in their current state it'd probably be quicker to tie your laces anyway, especially with something like the ian knot...

Keep it up and in the future humanity will lose one more ability - tying anything properly.

Can't wait for the future where I have to recharge my

Laptop

Tablet

Tablet stylus

Phone

Earphones

Smartwatch

Wireless mouse and keyboard

Battery bank

Shoes

Fedora (motorized tipping function)

Smartglasses

The future sure looks great. Just need to install some extra power outlets in my room to be able to charge everything. Gonna need an extra backpack for the 20 chargers I am going to need as well.

Velcro is just hideous... that's all.

There are  large flaps on some shoes now that are meant to cover up laces. I'm pretty sure they can do the same with Velcro.

That's like the display lace for selling shoes. Well, it was.... Looks like a pain to lace like that.

I think you misread the article.
