What happens if I am walking and the battery runs out, can't I get my shoes off? Or does it, when it knows it maybe has 1-2% battery left, "auto-open"? Either way, it would be horrible.

If it ain´t broke don't try to break it.

Also, I rather wait for Samsung to release these kinds of shoes, I want something with more "ompf" in it.

Interesting that they finally got the concept working, but it kinda reminds me of the shoes that BMW launched recently, you tighten those with a screw mechanism on the back of the shoe.

what about...

Velcro

It does the same thing, and costs soooooo much less.

Also, this means I will now have to charge my shoes. To me this feels like solving a problem by creating another one.

Most people look down on velcro for some unknown and ridiculous reason. It's an amazing technology and yet myself and many others had been indoctrinated into believing that they are inferior and childish when compared to a piece of string and a couple of holes.

What happens when you trip and fall over awkwardly, and the tighten button gets pressed cutting off the circulation to your foot while draining the battery so it cannot be loosened. Does Nike cover your medical bills and compensate for loss of limb after your foot is amputated?

No indoctrinated bias against hook and loop fasteners from me, unfortunately they tend to not be available in adults sizes where I live.

I personally prefer to wear side-gusset shoes. Tying laces is wasted time and energy that could be better spent elsewhere, preferably not on finding an adapter to plug in to charge yet another pointless device.

Velcro is just hideous... that's all.

Why on earth should anyone care.

this is an overcomplicated solution for a problem that is very, very simple.

- velcro

- zipper

- buttons, belts, any other crap

- or simply, nothing at all:

This particular solution has existed for a while. It's mainly seen on children's shoes. The only real innovation here is the addition of a motor to over-complicate things. Traditionally, a mechanical spring-retention knob was used. In the even that the battery ever did run out, all you would have to do is apply moderate pressure to overcome the spring pressure and slip the shoes off. Not that such a tiny motor could hurt you in the first place.

Who cares what other people think. Just wear whatever is comfortable as long as your footwear is and safe for intended purpose (steel capped toes, or fully enclosed and chemically resistant etc depending on requirements).

I don't care what other people think, but I think they look ridiculous xD and besides they probably fall apart as soon as you walk on anything other than a paved road.
