Gears of War 4 Bundle free with GTX 1080 or 1070 purchase. Wait, what?

Well, this is something i actually wasn't expecting, but Microsoft has partnered with Nvidia (or vice versa, depending on how you look at it.) to offer free copies of Gears 4 with select GTX 1080 or 1070 graphics cards or systems and laptops powered by these GPU's, starting today until October 30th, the game comes out on the 11th. Also since Gears 4 is Xbox play anywhere that free copy is also a Xbox one copy, so technically speaking Nvidia is also giving away a Xbox one game

 

Anyways Nvidia blog page about this promo says Gears 4 has a bunch of PC friendly options and features such as; support for 4K and 21:9 resolutions, nearly three-dozen graphics settings, covering Anti-Aliasing, Ambient Occlusion, Level of Detail, Effects, Lighting, Shadows, Textures, and much, much more. Also automatic configuration by Geforce experience and it seems FOV too which is actually pretty rare for 3rd person games and Split-screen on PC too

 

Nvidia says that you want a GTX 1060 for an optimal experience but they say a gtx 750ti can run the game at 1080p

Ok, i'm kinda surprised MS actually allowed this, i was fully expecting them to just dump the games on the windows store and nothing else like they did at the beginning with Quantum Break and the windows store version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, but i think they put their serious boys pants and at least they are trying to release their games on the windows store as something that could appeal to PC only gamers ya know, i guess they finally figured that if they want a piece of this market is not as cut and dry as porting a console games, until the game is actually out we don't know if they actually tried or just put their try hard marketing pants to hide shit again.

Why not bundle it with a 1060? That's where they need to take sales from AMD. Anyone who hasn't bought a 1070 or 1080 is not going to but one for gears of war.

Gears of Wars remastered for PC also has Nvidia features such as HBAO+ which causes visual corruption and hitching on non-Nvidia GPUs. They're going all the way this time. Heck we might have exclusive games for one GPU and will not run at all if you have a different brand at this pace.

EH i mean i plan on buying gears and i want a 1070 but prices have been Dumb and now just starting to settle but still Over priced imo this could help me pull the trigger since its legit 60 bucks i was spending anyway will see what prices and cards get bundled 

 

Overall i dont see this affecting much at all though but Nice to see a decent game bundled

Actually wouldn't that indicate the opposite: that they're probably doing fairly ok in 1060 sales and that they want to reinforce the high end cards instead?

 

Also Microsoft probably asks for a cut, subzidized and all but still a cut, so the price difference doesn't justify the games you get. Remember how both companies do this and often bundle fairly crap games or just free2pay shit on the low end cards instead of full games. This is actually fairly common place...outside of getting an xbox one game with the purchase of a PC gpu technically speaking.

I would still say you're in that minority though. The gears community on PC is pretty small as it is. I'll be getting the game too. Hope to play against you :-)

i think any developer that agrees to bundle games with graphics cards wants a cut or at least nvidia (or AMD for AMD cards) is buying the copies at bulk discount since most of the time is new or unreleased games

i mean i was planning on upgrade to one for Christmas but now i kinda want to get it now

Yeah i Agree i dont see this boosting sales much at all. Bought an xbox last August Just because of Gears UE getting delayed on PC without a release date or word about it and luckily i was right that came out wayyyy after.  But now Since when you Buy a copy you get a PC & Xbox version im excited i havent found a clear answer on mutiplayer cross platform some say yes some say no though. 

 

Edit: The Link on this Post actually says no multiplayer Bummer  means i will have to play on xbox almost always

Only horde will be cross platform. MP not being cross platform is a good idea. To much m&k advantage.

For the amount of money you pay for a 1080 you better bloody get it free. Would make sense.

i Wouldn't mind if they made it an option where PC had to play with a Controller or something though not that it couldn't be faked easily im sure. i just want better smoother visuals then what the xbox one will do bleh 

 

I remember playing shadow run one of the only crossplay games to do xbox 360 to PC full blown multiplayer it was a blast i never felt disavataged with a controller but that was the major complaint it seems that many that just sucked looked for an excuses its not them its the game others have an advantage even though they didnt know if they were killed by a mouse   just like when people die on consoles they go screaming that somehow they cheated or connection problems happened lol

You knew you were going to start seeing nice game bundles with gpus once the demand for the new shit started dying off. Maybe this will get AMD to start bundling Deus EX MD with the RX 480 and RX 470 instead of just with their crappy FX cpus.

Aside from Nvidia reacting with a free game with every GTX 1070 or 1080 purchased with an xbox or pc because of how AMD is doing a comeback makes me feel reassured of having bought 1025 AMD stocks.

I'm inclined to believe the latter. Xbox Play anywhere games are games that functionally the same on PC and Xbox.

what i always said! it was fun on the first two, but then it just became repetitive and brought nothing new. Still the same ol' take cover and shoot

Hm, I just ordered a laptop that came with this. I have never played a Gears game before, and I don't know if I would like it. Maybe I should sell mine.
