Anybody know about zen that they also have an APU based on Zen chipset? I'm a bit interested on Apu, I really want to know how far amd have developed the apu on zen,, 2017 , it'll be a long wait to see...

well, the first chips on AM4 will be older architecture APUs adapted for AM4, or so i've heard.

Literally the first bunch of Zen chips to be announced were all APUs (and one Athlon)

but those are older architecture, and not 'actually zen' zen, arent they?

Considering they have a quad core APU at 65W I'd say they're a variant of Zen.

i heard a somethingsomething they took the old architecture, and *adapted* it in some way, but i cant remember how much adaptations were done, and to what degree.

and 65W APU isnt very unlikely, look up the A10-7860k :P

@TheRandomness They're Excavator, they are based on a completely different architecture to Zen.

dont tell me they're pulling a G34 again.. :P

Hmm. I'd say they're not exactly pulling a G34 (MCM) but I'm not sure you can call it a monolithic design either - I mean does a chip with 2 CCXs automatically mean it's a MCM? I'm not sure.

It's made to be more modular and scaleable than other chip designs (I believe). Probably because they want to cut costs and it's not necessarily bad although time will tell whether that's true.

It's said that the 32 core chip will be MCM (supposedly two 16 core chips glued together), so that would be like G34.

at some point i had a page open for a long time, and it kept trying to load ads, ending up at something like 1500 blocked ads :P

EDIT: should clarify, i only use adblock in cases of plain necessity, like when half of your laptop battery life has to go into displaying ads on a school-specific website.

adblock is an addictive poison that will not affect you, but kill everything you touch. it will eventually be the death of the internet as we know it.

it's just that in some cases, it's more healthy to drink poison than look at a webpage without it...

They are first launching a batch of non-Zen APUs on the AM4 socket, then later they'll launch Zen-based APUs as well as CPUs.

The non-Zen APUs are Bristol Ridge/Stoney Ridge. Raven Ridge is the Zen-based APU codename, and Summit Ridge is the Zen-based CPU codename.

X370 name for top chipset. Odd name though. I know 'X' is cool and means top level "X3M" or whatever haha. But what do numbers mean?!
