Would You Rather Tech Game 2.0

Unlimited data. At least I'd be able to use it.

Nvidia. Their super-expensive GPU's would be more useful to me than Intel's super-expensive CPU's.

Would you rather have Microsoft or Google spy on you?

Google because I trust them more and they basically already spy on us with adsense.

Would you rather have a custom air cooler (?) or an H100i V2?

WYR buy a used R9 295X2 that was used for bitcoin mining for $200 and hope it lasts or buy a new GTX 1060/RX 480?

New RX 480. A 295X2 would overheat hugely in my case.

In fact, I just got the email notification that my Sapphire NITRO RX 480 8GB has shipped :P

I've got an H110i GT, H100i V2 would be less of a downgrade.

For the air cooler to perform about the same, it would have to be way too big for my liking (and maybe too loud).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't an evaporative cooler a 'phase-change' cooler?

Current standards. I don't own any Lightning stuff so I'd have to buy all new cables and hubs.

What I meant was, evaporative bong cooler as in the DIY super tall external units or a phase change cooler integrated into a case?

Have no audio devices on your PC or have speakers which always emit white noise, even when the system is shut down?

Only work and professional stuff. I think we'd be in trouble if the world went "screw the datacentres and the supercomputers and the deep learning and the AI research, let's make games!"

A ludicrously big but very thin smartphone (eg. 6.5 inch screen but .25cm thick) or a ludicrously thick but sensible screen-size smartphone (eg. 5 inch screen but 2cm thick)?

I hate the "let's make it thinner!" craze, and I hate the "let's make the screen EVEN BIGGER!" craze, so the thick one.

Would you rather have a hybrid card with nowhere to put the radiator or an air-cooled card that always throttled?

Hybrid card. I'm sure I could ghetto-mount the rad somewhere.

A keyboard with super stiff keys that you have to put a lot of force on to press or a keyboard with keys so sensitive that it registers wrong keystrokes all the time?

Stiff. I can't imagine a keyboard that sensitive would have a lot of travel.

Would you rather your mouse's scroll wheel always be a flywheel or require so much force to 'click' that you have to regrip the mouse.

Flywheel. Garbage for gaming, but I'm sure there's ways around it.

If they're the same price, the fast phone (buy some expensive invincible case though).

WYR have a decent rig (i5 4460 or smthing, gtx960) with an unlimited steam wallet, or a massive gaming rig (whatever linus is putting in whatever massive hulking project abomination rig he'll be making next,), with a $100 steam budget/year.

29 inch ultrawide because I have one right now and it's actually pretty beastly for the price I purchased at.

I've only read through the first half of the fourth page, so sorry if I ask a question that has already been asked before... but:

I'm an AMD fan, but I'd be an idiot to take crossfire 480's over a 1080. Higher tier single card over dual mid range cards all day, I can do without using g-sync/freesync.

Now WYR have the most glorious looking pc ever constructed with mid range hardware, or the absolute ugliest pc imaginable with top end hardware? Just solely aesthetics, all hardware works as intended.

Give me a beige box from the 90's. I'll throw it in a closet and run a display port cable to a beautiful 34 inch curved ultrawide monitor or 2... or 3 daisy chained with thunderbolt cables. That way my non-techy friends would enjoy watching movies and I would be able to run nice games in silence. I would also be somewhat saved from waiting on programs to compile and SolidWorks simulations wait times.

WYR The most epic gaming PC in the world, but with one profile and the whole family/friends have full access to it (family computer, not just yours) or a best buy box from 2012 with the best privacy setup you can imagine.

Would you rather have the best Mac or the worst PC?

ez question, best mac. I can sell it and get like 50 million dollahs or use it and get better performance than the worst PC.

Writing with pen or writing with pencil?

You missed the fact that its the families PC not just yours. If siblings or parents want to use it they may want to kick you off... that was part of what was built into the question, but I guess I didn't make it clear.

EDIT: Maybe you already factored that in, but it wasn't outlined in your response.

Writing with pen, because you can get those pens that rub out themselves, and you dont need to sharpen all the time.

Laptop:

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.
