I'm gonna follow this! When you figure out mounts for your laptop drives post a picture if you don't mind :) I'm making the switch from my Alienware 17 (display had a stroke as well as the connector cable) and I'm building a rig that I'm going to use my laptop drives in.

I was planning to do so anyway so I will :D most cases come with 2.5" to 3.5" (laptop to desktop) mounts though, the Ranger-M doesn't though (which is why modding exists!) I'm honestly debating on using double-sided tape :P

Gotta be careful with double sided tape on mechanical drives though :) But you shouldn't have too much to worry about, if I remember Linus said he hasn't had any tape fail him yet in a video :D

It's going to be sitting on a flat surface and he won't be moving it around while it's operating so it should be okay, I hope :P

lol i've used double sided tape to hold up 3.5 inch drives... as long as you get the red outdoor/industrial ones from 3m you're good

Well what about this? It's not much cheaper (around $1) but it looks a little better and probably has everything you'd/he'd need.

It'll be fine for a 380x and a 4170. A 500B might be better though

For a 380X? Nah. Get a CX550M or 520W S12.

What about one of the EVGA GS or GQ models?  I think one or both is supposed to be shorter so you'd have a little more room for cable management.  

 

Just st look on pcpartpicker for whichever between the GS and GQ will fit in a Corsair 88R and that's the good one to use here.

Both my desktops use Gigabyte mbs and both my GPUs are gigabyte.  Zero problems except for what may or may not be a bit of coil whine on my 1070.

Look at what gear LMG uses for testing all ASUS mobos because they are amazing. I could care less about GPUs when the OG topic was motherboards
