i could think of a whole range of reasons why they're specificly dying in china, none of them being related to racism.

however these may be some key things to note:

- different climate

- different parts used (like before mentioned VRAM chips)

- different hardware around it (even within europe there's a large variation in available brands depending on location)

- the local power grid's quirks (for example in belgium the transformers are set to kick out 250 volts at the cabin which roughly tanks down to 220-240 at the house, this is why european mains rated gear needs to be 250Vac)

well, DOA's and "premature failures" are rarely just one thing. if it was one thing it would have failed the QC

 

think of it like this: it's that hot dry climate (static electricity nightmare fuel), combined with lesser quality VRAM chips, and unlucky you having that one high quality japanese cap that just barely passed QC in your power supply, and a small instability in the power grid gets trough to the vram and the gpu starts to artifact.

although i must admit that there's a part of me secretly hoping that their 900 series cards will all die spectacularly so all the people who have claimed MSI superiority over my 970 strix now get a serious dose of karma

I have a MSI 970 OC edition but they use Nvidia`s brown PCB so I doubt mine will have issues! :3

True true as I won't be surprised if all the components in the whole PC were stuff that barely passed QC and considering how many people value money more than family and friends in China...(true fact, 90% of family arguments I've had to experience between grandparents, uncles and aunties, cousins are on the subject of who borrowed money, who owes them money, who's richer therefore they should give their money to the lesser relatives ect.), sounds like a recipe for AIBs and manufacturers to lower the costs for them to produce the product as low as possible and sell them at a lower price than other countries

Nah, MSI is usually the better GPU AIB...have you seen ASUS's shitty ass AMD cards? They still haven't learn't how big the die is for Hawaii somehow...

ehh... i'll just say that the majority of problems people have with asus products are based on worthless idealism, and one only really realises how idealistic the pc community is once they try to write a review about a gardena garden hose and the chinese alternative.

Go look at reviews and benchmarks for the 290X DC2...80C for a custom cooler is shiet and it's louder than other AIB coolers so I don't really think it's just me making stuff up

well, they came around and strapped their triple fan cooler on the 390, and i have a friend that's very satisfied with the card

Those temps are almost reference matey...not to mention how it's 2dB louder than the MSI 390X card as well...sozzles , they had 2 years to learn how big the die is for hawaii and didn't do anything about it...

I heard that MSI was pretty mediocre in the mid 2000's, looking it up now, looks like they have always been mediocre and still are.

Lol i would allmost say told you so....

Msi is asking top dolar for their products, but they cheap out on component quality, especialy wenn it comes to VRM sections.

They allready doing this for a couple of years now, and at some point you will get backlash for it.

 

Also people who say that Asus cannot make a proper video card.

Asus only had issues with their Hawai and Grenada cards running hot, due a cooler that was wasnt good enough.

But there was nothing wrong with their pcb´s or what not.

Asus in fact is one of the companies that doesnt cheap out on the pcb.
