Go to solution Solved by Spotty,

This is a legacy list. It is no longer being updated.

The new PSU Tier List can be found here:

I think the tier 1 requirement was performance equal to the G2. IIRC, that's <1% regulation and <~25mV ripple on 12V, a non sleeve bearing fan, (mostly) working protections, and decent components.

Interesting where can I see more?

Hmm.. you right, even in 5 year 40$ doesn't pay back..

Got my aye also on EVGA supernova G3 maybe it's better than Straight Power 11?

The G3 is just loud and single rail. The Straight Power 11 is much preferred, imo.

You'll either have to ask @STRMfrmXMN or look at the other 175 pages of replies.

The G2 is slightly less loud than the G2, I think.

For a 1080 system, you're looking at less than 300W. Anyone that has said that you need 500W has absolutely no clue about what they're talking about.

why LTT states that 450W mininum is recommended for a GTX 1080

and how to calculate power draw without overestimating or underestimating

I thought parts were cheaper

For PSUs I think there are better choices for that budget like the ones I listed above

And we can go with a cheaper cooler, 8GB of RAM and get a 1080 ti instead

Is it worth going Platinum instead of Gold? for ~40$? Looking at Be quiet! PSU's.. PC will be running 8-14 hours daily..

Maybe there are even better PSU's? Around 100-160$ price.

Depends if you want the extra connections or not.

The differences between those two isn't just the efficiency...

With the Dark Power Pro you get more Drive connectors (5 are possible vs. Three), more PCIe connectors, the 550W P11 has 4, the E11 has only 2 (AFAIR) and AFAIR two CPU cable or at least they are possible.

Decide if the other stuff is worth it, not (just) the efficiency.

Since you already looked at be quiet, I'd think you want a rather quiet PSU, don't you?

Except for the RM550X the rest is not something for you, the TX is rather loud with ~900rpm under no load situations.

Generally i wan't "the best" xD i personally don't know witch one would be "best" out of all of them psu..

Anyways GPU CPU fans are much louder anyways than most psu i bet..

Than get the Dark Power Pro.

It is the best in terms of features and things in the box.

For example you have a fan controller for the fans in your case, many connections you can use.

no

Especially CPU Fans aren't that loud these days.

And Graphics cards have Semi Fanless Modes for low load scenarios.

So at least under lower loads you can have a really quiet System.

Under full load there are still some PSU that are louder than the rest...

Yes they are.

Their fans are quite good and don't have much Motor or Bearing Noise.

And the min fan RPM of the Straight Power E11 is around 250rpm.

There isn't much competition. Well, at least not one they didn't do themselves -> Xilence Performance X.

But that's a difference price range.
