Why did Nvidia drop the new Titan all of a sudden?

afyeung

Why? just why lol. And they're confusing people by pulling an Apple(tm) and calling it "the new Titan X" on social media.

Nothing can compete with it so free money. Also, bottlenecks guaranteed unless you have at least a 6 core.

You can get them under $200 in the US which is honestly a very good deal as I like to spend towards $150 on the regular platform mobos.

I want one, going to try and get one. Why not? But my guess is they want to put the smack down on the RX 480. I blame the crossfire to equal a 1080 stunt.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Please, if you are getting a Pascal Titan, you DO NOT need a Hexcore Chip. This is because at 4K you are more dependent on GPU Power than CPU Power. This is why the AM3+ platform is fine for 4K because of its cost and PCI Lane support.

Main Gaming PC (new): HP Omen 30L || i9 10850K || RTX 3070 || 512GB WD Blue NVME || 2TB HDD, 4TB HDD, 8TB HDD ||  750W P2 ||  16GB HyperX Black DDR4

Main Gaming PC (old, still own) : Intel Core i7 7700K @5.0Ghz || GPU: GTX 1080 Seahawk EK X || Motherboard: Maximus VIII Impact || Case: Fractal Design Define Nano S || RAM : 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX

Cooling: EK XRES D5 100mm || Alphacool ST30 280mm w/ Vardars || Alphacool ST30 240mm w/ Vardars || Swiftech 3/8 x 1/2'' Lok-Seal Compressions || Swiftech EVGA Hydrocopper Block || Primochill Advanced LRT Orange || Distilled Water

Folding@Home Rig: 2x X5690s @4.6Ghz || GPUs: 2x Radeon HD 7990 || Motherboard: EVGA SR-2 || Case: Corsair 900D || RAM: 48GB Corsair Dominator GT 2000Mhz CL9

Ethereum Mining Rig: Pentium G4400 || Gigabyte Z170X-UD5 TH || 2x GTX 1060s (Samsung & Hynix) 1x GTX 1070 (Micron), 2x RX480s BIOS modded (Samsung), 1x R9 290X 8GB, 1x GTX 1660 Super = ~ 195 Mh/s

Peripherals: 3x U2412M (5760x1200), 1x U3011 (2560x1600) || Logitech G710 (Cherry Blues) || Logitech G600 || Brainwavz HM5 with @Gofspar Mod

I don't think it's any secret that I have problems.  I'm still hoping that a Pascal Ti is right around the corner.  I'd definitely grab those over the Titan X.

It seems like that you will be buying 2x new titans first, and after Pascal Ti, you will be buying 2 of them also.

Not going to lie, I took one look at it and had to have it. I've been shopping for weeks bouncing from different 1080s and a possible 1070 SLI set up. Nothing felt right. This feels right. REALLY right.

Seeing the power draw from the my wife's 1080 versus my 980 Ti, I would expect the Titan to use about as much as the 980 Ti.

If past launches are anything to go by, I'd expect to see a 1080 Ti around November or possibly until Vega as some sort of planned response, so we won't see a cost effective upgrade from the GTX 1080 for awhile.

All in all, though, I'm not even remotely upset about my 1080 SC. I don't think NVIDIA can go fuck themselves by trapping enthusiasts into spending their money on a 1080 and then announcing a consumer version of GP102 as soon as the smoke clears. Not at all. Nope.

Not even remotely

I agree. So no worries there. I'm sure I'll have a bottleneck with my 4790k but that will get sorted out next year and shouldn't be too bad.

The New Titan X is confirmed to have a 250W TDP, so it's very likely to be a lot like big Maxwell.

Yeah, that was kinda quick. You could always sell the 1080. Probably get your money back the way people are freaking out over the 1080.

If I'm paying another $600 for anything, it's going to be for a second 1080. Getting a Titan series GPU doesn't seem like a wise investment for me, but I know the Ti is around the corner.

I seriously had the high end for half a week before I hear news of it being obsolete.
