its strange. the bosd would say its the cpu voltage, but i have a feeling it is something else. overclocking the ram is a pretty simple way to get 10cb+ extra. firstly you will need to use your last stable overclock- 4.6ghz on 1.3v. then set the primary timings and the dram voltage to 1.65v. once you have done this you have 2 options, although you might only have 1. the first and easiest option is to just bump the speed up to 2133mhz. this is very easy, but it doesn't always work. the second option is to tighten the primary timings and maybe set some of the secondary timings as well.    

Well, I know I've badly degraded the chip from 4.8 runs on the stock cooler, but I should still be able to hit 4.8 under 1.5v. Even then, when I didn't have enough voltage I'd hit a machine error BSOD instead, so I'm a little worried I've killed something, but at least I've got 4.6.

 

I'll give 2133MHz a go now, any recommendations for memory tests, because the only thing I have right now is XTU. So I should just try and pull the timings down as far as I can? I'm guessing I should start by just bringing one down, does it matter which? And what would be a decent target to go for?

for memory, if it will post and boot its normally pretty stable. xtu should be fine to test if its stable. with the timings, just bring one down at a time. i would start by seeing with the cas latency. you want to keep the ram timings pretty close. with 2 of each other really. the 1T cannot be lowered so leave that one. and the 1st and 3rd timings should have the biggest impact on you score.  i would say 9-9-9-24 1T would be a good target although, ram tend to be a bit random, so you could end up with 8-10-9-21 1T being best. you'll just have to try a few combinations and see what works best on your kit.

I don't think it will make it to 5.5G even Single threaded. I would have already Benched it, but Single threaded doesn't have points on the Bot. Maybe with my 4790K.
