What happened nVIDIA?

hex4

nVidia dropped support for Kepler a while back. They openly announced it. This is not new news and is also not a conspiracy.

But fucking imagine AMD going bankrupt i would probs quit gaming and switch to console since then Nvidia will be the only one on the market and support for amd cards would slowly fade away and them being a greedy bitch they would  price everything like i have bill gates' wallet

no it doesn't

but I derailed the topic like 5 posts ago and now we're talking about human perception, this has nothing to do with kepler performance

we're talking about facts. using an analogy that is less complex to understand, but seemingly for you was an issue.

the reason that when you turn off one light the other one gets brighter is, indeed, human perception.

however, the other light doesnt actually get brighter, it keeps to its usual rated lumen, going on as it was, this can be proven with a light intensity meter.

or to bring it back to GPUs: with a graph that is not relative performance, but rather hard FPS numbers by doing a benchmark ("fps meter") shows if, and how much, both sides have gone up or down.

--

PS: yes, amd is totally ahead in the long term driver optimization game, but thats mostly because they come from a place where optimization wasnt all too amazing either way.

AMD cards by the looks of it will crush Nvidias in dx12 not to mention for games that dont have dx12 support AMD always has mantle avaible, AMD's driver support is getting better with every release and the rx 480 is going to be a big hit for Nvidia since nvidia fucked up by sticking to make high end cards but that takes like only %20 of the market , not to mention if you can build a gaming pc for the price of a console with the rx 480 and it can game at 1080p ultra settings 60 fps the console would be crushed and AMD would come out on top

LOL, I disagree... DX12 is the only thing making AMD cards viable... Their DX11 performance is still crap. That's why it shows massive gains. Nvidia runs optimized in DX11 and DX12... ASync just doesn't provide the optimisation needed by AMD cards to compete...

But the fanboys will just say it's not so...

theres multiple reasons why amd wont go bankrupt, and if they do nvidia wont be the "single market player" at least for long.

truth is that both economically and -in fact by law- a monopoly is not a very good situation to be in.

To be fair, AMD has been rehashing the same similar chips for ages now, IE: working on drivers for their 280x benefitted the 7970, and so on.  It's not a surprise that their older chips have been steadily gaining on their nvidia counterparts, or even surpassing them.  When you re-use the same shit over and over essentially, all of your products will benefit from driver optimizations.

meanwhile -coming from a 970 owner- an R9 390 beats a 970 in performance per dollar pretty much across the board, not by much, but it's a thing.

(i have vareous other reasons to own a 970 over a 390, but i'm not gonna go over that.)
