What happened nVIDIA?

hex4

You still dont get it do you.....

the nitro may have a good cooler but the power draw is 275watts!!

you dont ask someone with a silent build to go for a card that would likely make their psu fan start up because of the load.

And how much do you think the 970 system draws? usually around 200W actually. The TDP rating is a lie. Accept it. And the PSU fan? SERIOUSLY? Higher end PSUs (that cost 90$) come with FDB fans - you'd be hard pressed to hear them even if you tried.

This is why i said people buy based on their needs and wants, just because you cant hear it doesnt mean the next guy cant.

Theres a reason amd is being dominated by nvidea right now because they know how to please a wider audience.

And where do i get this conclusion? They own most of the market share.

It's because they have a legion of rabid fanboys *insert mirror here* that go around spreading bullshit.

No that is not the reason, the reason is marketing, that is it. Nvidias cards were all beaten by AMD cards when it came to price to performance, the only card that beat a AMD card was the 980ti.

It's pretty funny. Everyone loses their tits over new cards, yet wants to argue over old cards. Seems more about arguing than anything else to the outside observer.

You just said it yourself, amd only knows how to please a small group of die hards like you that only cares about price to performance.

in the world of shopping, its not just the amount of horsepower that people consider before buying.

Then why did their market share with the 300 series increase by 5% total?

You do realise that 5% growth over 6 months is quite large? Just goes to show how big of a fail the 3.5GB 970 issue was and the lackluster 960.

Excellent point Don, and again the irony is AMD's fan could cause the most damage. The 390 gained market share for AMD because it worked, it offered better price to performance than the 970. Nvidia has made a paper launch of Pascal, AMD could gain more ground with Polaris 10, if people stop thinking it's the second coming of Christ. AMD cards have aged better because the drivers work across series, but Polaris will end that. Pascal is a shrunk down Maxwell, so could we see a reversal of the past trend? Who knows.

Point? Fucking chill. Having ether in control is bad for us, being a fan is fun but having better hardware and games is fun^2.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

You do realize the 970 was and probably is still the most widely owned card on the planet right now?

clearly it wasnt that much of a issue then?

Selling the most units doesn't matter, making the developers money is what matters. That factoid works against both sets of fans.

Btw - 60% of the GPU market is owned by Intel. Check around steam - Intel HD Graphics are the most popular GPUs combined.

970 was released long time before the 390, when 390 released the 970 sales dropped significantly. You, for the most part, have no idea what you're talking about here.

Yeah... The paper launch of Pascal. You see, I think it was planned. Imo they knew that their GPU stock will be insufficient, so they could sell more of the overpriced af Fanboy Edition.

I believe that just means Intel graphics are present in the system. Might not be active primary GFX.

Could be a Wii plan too. Bring the hype to a boil then flood the market once AMD is able to stock shelves. Who knows. Ether way It's not cool.

Steam checks the currently in use GPU IIRC. If you have a dGPU most BIOSes disable them (in my experience)

Yes but even then, the amount of 970 cards out there still took the top spot. Im not saying their move wasnt a dickmove, but people buy based on all sorts of need.

a little vram difference isnt enough to turn people off because buyers are like me and you, we care about other things when buying.
