NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Specifications

Quote

According to NVIDIA, GeForce GTX 1070 has 1920 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR5 memory and TDP rated at 150W.

Just like GTX 1080, the cut-down version of GP104 silicon will be powered with through 8pin power connector. Also same as it’s full-fat brother, GTX 1070 will use 5 display connectors including 3x DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0B and Dual-DVI.

The GTX 1070 is also said to have a boost clock of 1.6 GHz. Unfortunately this is where official information ends. It is yet to be confirmed if GTX 1070 has full 256-bit interface and 256 GB/s bandwidth.

Now, assuming that GTX 1070 has 1920 CUDA cores, then it should also have 120 TMUs (CUDAs/16). Earlier leaks also confirmed that GTX 1070 will be powered by GDDR5 memory at 2000 MHz. If GTX 1070 is using full interface (256-bit) then maximum bandwidth should be around 256 GB/s.

Finally nvidia releases some details , really hope both 1080 and 1070 release at the same time

N00b question: What do CUDA cores do anyway? What does having more or less CUDA cores mean, and why don't AMD cards have them?

It's for a thing call SIMD (single instruction multiple data), since graphic work loads are the similar in execution but are made up of many different data objects, have multiple processors handle the same instruction.

AMD has stream processors.

That's a bit more cut down than I expected. I was thinking 2048 Cores, although GDDR5 might be the hard limit here. :|

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Again, nVidia going for the massive clock speed increase rather than core improvements.

This should get similar results to a 980 and will be the main competition for the 490(x) from the red team going by current rumors about what AMD's doing.

Can someone tell me whats the huge difference on memory speed? I have never heared someone crying about his slow GDDR5 on a Maxwell card.

How do you notice if the memory bandwith bottlenecks the System? Do Textures load slower or what? oO

U didnt say what u have atm. With your money (getting new gpu every 6 months) I guess u have 980ti in which case wait for 1080ti/Titan whichever will come out and make more sense :)

How? The 1070 and 1080ti will be in completely different leagues. I'd understand buying a GTX 1080 now, but a 1070 just wouldn't make any sense if you have that kind of budget...
