Did any of you notice AMD went up 50% today, and is now nearly 4 dollars? Holy crap I didn't see that coming. I own 100 shares so I guess I made 137 dollars today off that :D

It blew my mind when I saw that.

Agreed. Intel needs to be hit with some serious competition as well.

I agree with this so much, when there is competition great things happen. Just look at the US and Russia when trying to get to the moon. Also consumers 99/100 times benefit from it. (competitive pricing... etc)

More competitive pricing but AMD will be the first to bail out in the price war as they won't be able to lower much before they are loosing money than gaining profit which is really important right now so they can pay off their debts in time...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

True but we all know Nvidia's nature, they will never be price competitive until they have someone who can challenge their products and stands a chance at taking a part of their market share.

*cough* *cough* r9 290x and 290...the immediate decrease of 780 and 770s...now if AMD can pull something off like that again, more performance for the same price or slightly less, Nvidia will be again forced to lower prices again :D

I have never thought of it this why but for the GPU market it is AMD v. Nvidia and in the CPU market it is AMD v. Intel. Poor AMD, they are attacked from both sides trying to prevent a monopoly. Lol. Then again you could look at it from the perspective that AMD is the monopoly and the other two and trying to prevent them from taking both markets. It is interesting how there are only 3 main companies for two main markets.

Seems to be that they rather be spending more money for the GPU side of things but still, they are not even the size of Intel or Nvidia alone nor with the money of them and they are still fighting strongly on both sides (in my opinion plus a 3 year old card is able to keep up with a 1 year old card...I wonder...with the certain 3 year old card now doing better than the pricier but used to be the better performing card is now doing equally good/beating it (I'm ovbiously talking about the 780ti vs the 290x now...STOP BOYCOTTING YOUR CARDS NVIDIA!)).

Isn't Radeon Technology Group technically a "separate company" now with AMD being the parent company. Similar to what Google did with Alphabet.
