Is this the most I could get for my money?

Matty2hatty

Well, my dad wanted a new office PC so I offered to build it and he thought that was great, he gave me a budget of £350, that doesn't include monitor,keyboard,mouse etc.

With some help I came up with this:

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/wXgWxr

Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

The PC will be used for MS Office and YT video watching.

You don't need an i5 for a basic use PC. A pentium would be more than capable

If you went with AMD instead, you could get a far better pc because you would be able to afford a dedicated GPU which would make the PC much faster and it wouldnt get as slow so quickly either.

If he isn't using graphic intensive stuff, then he doesn't need a GPU. He said he will only be using MS Office and YouTube watching, so there is no need for a dedicated GPU at this price point. As well, Intel based platform is better in this kinda situation.

That is fair but from my experience, just the intel CPU and its igpu alone can make a computer very slow very quickly. Maybe if he went with an AMD a6 6400k and an HD 6450, you would get more power for the same price point and maybe even lower. Plus he may find that generally tasks are easier managed on his pc like YT vids too. Especially if he wants to watch them at a higher quality that 720p at speed.

That is a fair point :) However, pointing out, if he went with an APU like the 6400k, I think it would be best to just not get a dedicated GPU. I have personally owned an A8-5600k, and I believe he could even just get away with an A10 series, those are like around £70/$100 so he could spend that money on like a larger SSD, more RAM, or even a better CPU cooler and overclock if he likes. Either way, I do see your AMD point, but I would not get a dedicated GPU ANYWAY, but a GPU in your APU is actually a good idea.

Can't agree at all. Almost all of our office computers use Intel igpu without performance issues.

@Matty2hatty, I would suggest Skylake.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

To be fair, Intel are chosen in most situations as they are more reliable and are generally better when it comes to work/office PC's though. (They are built for rough 'n' tough)
