No there's not really anything "better". It's a good board.

But Asus' deluxe series always seem to be unreliable. My X79 deluxe died last year and completely f**ked me over. Though the replacement is the most rock solid board I've ever had.

Cause talking to Asus support is harder than having a proper conversation with your cat.

I guess I'll continue to testify that my experience with ASUS RMA department has been fast, painless, and got me what I needed.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

when you put so many things on a motherboard like that, something is bound not to work. I think that's why the motherboard has bad reviews.

would this broad still be worth buying?

Its a really good board

What all those people here ^^^ dont understand is that it sells a ton, and with more sales = more people have problems

and those people with problems will write bad reviews

The board itself is extremely good, and has a ton of awesome features

Also I have had extremely good experiences with ASUS and RMAing my old motherboard

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

Spoiler

Ryzen 3950X | AMD Vega Frontier Edition | ASUS X570 Pro WS | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB | NZXT H500 | Seasonic Prime Fanless TX-700 | Custom loop | Coolermaster SK630 White | Logitech MX Master 2S | Samsung 980 Pro 1TB + 970 Pro 512GB | Samsung 58" 4k TV | Scarlett 2i4 | 2x AT2020

yes

if you want to spend less money you can get the pro or the -a which have less features

maybe you dont need all the features of the deluxe?

X99 SOC Champion is another good choice, board is great now that they've updated the BIOS.

The very very first few BIOS that came out had some issues, but have since been fixed.

any advantage over the deluxe?

Better memory overclocking & support, and it looks nice :D

Both have really good software, good BIOS, great OC capabilities and all that, I think they are neck and neck in terms of features and everything, but x99 SOC Champion is a great price, probably the best price to performance if you don't mind getting your hands dirty & tweaking in BIOS / software for good overclocks.

Either one will be perfectly fine, it's up to you.

I'd take the Champion, I had a decent experience with the one I owned.  It had some BIOS issues that drove me insane, but they have been fixed.

I don't think broadwell e is coming for another like 4-5 months, 5820k will be plenty :D
