Here is what those keys look like with a blue backlight. That topic thread also explores the idea of PBT keycaps and backlights.

Personally, I think it would look pretty cool. But it depends on what you're going for.

You would have the same effect, but less so, since the white keycaps like you linked first would let more light through.

Are you looking for PBT keys that are good for backlit keyboards? I don't think there are any stand-alone PBT keycap sets that you can buy for that. There is a company that does make them (Deck), but you have to buy the whole keyboard.

If you want a cool keycap set that work well with backlighting, Max Keyboards makes some pretty cool sets (http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-universal-black-translucent-mechanical-keyboard-keycap-set-top-print.html).

I would just find the keycaps you like (whether they are backlit keycaps or not).

It still gives a really cool effect.  It looks like the caps have light hanging underneath them (because they do).

Or,

Just get these ducky PBT engraved caps, and you will be able to see through them alittle.   http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=859

Is there a website you can design your own keycap singles? I'd love to order some for my blackwidow.

I'm still rocking my Razer Blackwidow! I might end up getting a non mechanical keyboard. I mostly play late at night and I don't like waking up the other people who live with me :P

Get some browns/reds/blacks, they're not as loud? :)

I love StarCraft

^ I agree they aren't as loud I would say. But in the end it really depends on your typing style if you are a heavy handed typer you may have more issues then someone who touch types and isn't prone to bottoming out. O-Rings can solve the bottom out issue but in terms of a mechanical keyboard the switches will always carry even a little bit more noise then your normal 20 dollar membrane keyboard.

That's true. I've been working hard to learn not to bottom out myself, and it's actually ''learnable'' and feels awesome after a while. For gaming it's just not possible though.

In my opinion it also depends on your mouse as well. I feel that a good gaming mouse with more buttons on it will normally elevate a lot of the noise. I spend more time with my mouse then keyboard gaming wise. However work/professional wise more typing which is okay to have a little extra noise here and there.

Depends on the kinda games. For Starcraft the opposite is true! :P I never found extra buttons that useful myself, except for maybe MMO's

Mechanicalkeyboards  is a good place to get Ducky caps, and sometimes Vortex.

Try Techkeys  -->  http://techkeys.us/collections/keycap-sets

Since I love GMK keycaps, www.originativeco.com is the best out there

but their support is amazingly bad

checkout Feng new webstore http://www.geekkeys.com/

I usually go vortex since they have good PBT and a largeish selection.

would have to agree there

Some is conservative, some isn't.

I haven't tried a Model M, I'm sure it's a great keyboard. I'm very pleased with my modern Cherry MX keyboards though!

I might have a bad model m or it might just be me

but I find that typing on a model M is very fatiguing, yet I am currently typing on a green switch with SA profile keycaps and I find them suitable for me

not sure :(
