I have a ton of crappy computers, best way to use them today?

I have a bunch of systems with all of them rocking an old Pentium 4 (Except for the one with the first AMD 64 bit processor) and all of them are crap. I have no use for them as of right now and I was wondering if you guys have any other ideas.

I'll buy one or two if you want to sell them. Honestly I REALLY need some crappy but working PCs at the moment.

donate to charity

If they accept them. I know of a few instances where charities won't accept old but perfectly operating computers just cos they are old.

If I were going to get rid of them I would keep the Athlon 64 one and one of the P4s, if I had to get rid of them.

Sell the individual chips, and ram. They are worth more than the whole computer.

Make a router out of one of them, a file server out of another, an HTPC out of another

Fold with the rest

Specs for the AMD? I really miss my old Athlon XP 2500+ Barton and wouldn't mind buying an old AMD for nostalgic reasons. :)

What is folding?

EDIT: tl;dr

Its a way to utilize many individuals' computer's computing power to solve big problems. Download the software, and you can easily give your computer's power to the cause.

I had a similar situation. I just tossed the cases and sold the components individually. I actually made a fair bit on them, probably more than they were worth. Ended up making enough to buy three noctua NF-P12s.

Don't do drugs. Do hugs!

Id say donate or throw out.  The power, compatibility, and reliability (due to age) of those machines makes them useless (in my opinion) for anything like a file server, folding, or any other kind of actual use.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
