Me and my buddy have been playing Dying Light, while the story line isn't stellar it's funny to run around with friends whacking zombies and do the side quests as well as the story line that it actually does have. Watch some videos on it and make sure you can run it, my i5 4590 and gtx 650 ti barely can.

i5 4590 @ Stock, XFX R9 290!, HyperX Beast 4x8GB  @1600, 850 EVO 120gb, WD Caviar Blue 1TB, , Asrock H97m Pro 4 , Fractal Design Define R4, Windows 10

define "story games", most games are narrative driven, therefore a story in and of themselves.

then there's of course the above mentioned games where it's much more of a film with some choice and consequence for the observer.

Aftermarket 980Ti >= Fury X >= Reference 980Ti > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 380X > 380 >= 960 > 950 >= 370 > 750Ti = 360

Uh?

"Best story games"

->"Dying light"

Yeah, no.

The story in Dying Light is there for the sake of it honestly. You don't get attached to any characters, you make some really harsh decisions (like killing someone you care about which has turned into a zombie, obviously) , but you don't really feel attached to the story. Sometimes it doesn't make too much sense, but you just go with it. And the end...oh God the end...they didn't even finish the story. They leave you in a city filled with zombies which is about to get razed , where you still need to do something , yada yada yada. But hey , it's over because you killed the-wanna-be-Vaas-antagonist so it's over. Yeah...the rest was probably left up to the DLC to complete.

Anyway, the game is actually not that bad. The gameplay is great and fun, with a really satisfying parkour system. The story is not that great however.

  • Dragon Age 1 & Inquisition (2 was meh but sadly hugely relevant to Inquisition. Just wiki it)

I honestly think that 2 is better than Inquisition. They eventually fixed it and made it a pretty good game. The primary issue that I had with inquisition is that you don't really feel like a character, you don't feel like the Inquisitor... You feel like the Inquisition itself. Your past doesn't matter, and the character for most races and classes is fairly flat. While there is some appeal to the, "Your past doesn't matter. You are now who you are now." mindset, it made for a pretty flat character imo. DA:O and DA:I both achieve you becoming who are now, not who you used to be, and non-flat characters fairly well. Although I'm not a fan of male Hawke voice acting.

The followers were pretty damn good though.

Bioshock Infinite

Dragon Age Origins

Bioshock 1

Baldur's Gate 1&2, although 2 is much better

Mass Effect. All of them. The ending of 3 is a bit meh, but the rest is great.

My main issue with 2 was that it wasn't a real open world game like 1 and 3. It was pretty linear and broken into acts where you could never go back to certain places/events if you missed something because it time skipped a bit for each act.

Inquisition had acts to but, except for a few random quests, you could still go back to previous maps. But I do agree that the inquisitor is the least 'special' of the playable characters. No matter the race or class its all the same in that game.

1 Was not open world. It was hub and zone based.

It was more open than 2 though, I 100% agree.
