Tomb Raider Incoming!

Rise of the Tomb Raider released last month, and all evidence suggests it didn't sell well. It didn't manage to rate on the NPD's top 10 best selling games for November, which tracks the top selling games in the United States (Just Dance 2016 sold better, FYI). It's little wonder: it released the same day as Fallout 4. Perhaps more damningly, it released exclusively for Xbox One, which is lagging behind the PS4 in the install base stakes, not to mention the PC which dwarves both platforms.

So it's unsurprising that the promised PC port is coming sooner than expected. According to an Amazon listing, it's releasing on January 29. That's a more specific date than 'early 2016', which is all we knew before.

 

I loved the first one, and seeing that this one got great reviews I can't wait. We can only pray for a decent port.

They were stupid when they released it at the same time as FO4. Xbone exclusive is understandable since Microsoft gave them the money to develop it; not that I'm particularly happy about that.

Are we gonna see a new benchmark in LTT videos? Does anyone know if this includes a built in benchmark?

I really liked the first one on PC so I'm looking forward to this, hoping that enough people will buy it on PC as it will make me sad to see this series getting terminated because of bad sales.

I want to play that game because I know that my dual gpu is going to work really well with it if things work out like the First one of the remakes (mind you I'm pretty sure I'd run the original first Tomb Raider at a pretty decent framerate.)

 

Doesnt hurt that it was a good game and that Lara Croft wasnt a bimbo in this remake.

Don't take that date as a fact. It's probably simply a place holder date and not a leak. Until SE says otherwise take it with a grain of salt.

Gamers should be happy this occurred.

 

Maybe next time, the business executives will think twice about timed-exclusives.  I wouldn't go as far to say that this will destroy any momentum the Tomb Raider reboot attained.  However, the people interested in making the money behind the scenes in the future will say "nope, timed-exclusives will cost us BIG TIME in the long-run when fans are lost, and thus sales are lost."

The smart thing would have been to push back the xbox release date because there was no way in hell they could compete with Fallout 4. I dont think microsoft would have allowed it since there has been a drought on xbox for a while.

I'm still angry that they made it an Xbox One partial exclusive, screwing over their other fans for M$'s bags of money. I don't think I will support this game with my hard earned cash until they say that they won't do it again with the next game.
