Still, it's good for the new generation to know. Especially among Reddit users known for their propensity towards cherry picking what truths to believe.

It's not because he is the mod of /r/amd that he says something false. All of the claims are backed up by reliable sources.

Just because you don't see it on every headline every day doesn't mean people aren't complaining about it.

Nvidia prolly keep their trails hidden a lot better and or forces their "clients" into NDA agreements with threats of huge lawsuits as punitive action for disclosing the content of the contract

Well depends on what you mean by crystal clear: the performance punishment it's there several times, the use of black boxes .dlls it's also clear, the pressure on developers to actualy change their code to benefit NVIDIA it's also there (claimed by developers), the reputation of malpractices and false advertisment are also there - and some of it is under lawsuit (3.5VRAM scandal)... it's pretty clear how shaddy NVIDIA is.

But like you said - they cover their asses with NDA contracts, but still NDA can cover illegal activity. I just don't get why the justice system doesn't clear anyone who leaks a NDA with clear illegal activity, clearing them from any lawsuit.

DLLs are not black boxes. Disassemble them and do the work to unravel them with a decompile. I don't run a single DLL I can't verify is good code. Hell half the time I write higher performance code for the DLLs that ship with my games than the vendors send out.

That's the actual attitude of amd critics like Ryan Shrout and to some extent Linus.  The end result is what matters most, not necessarily how you got there, even if the method was underhanded.  So what if boxer A put a metal layer in his gloves while fighting, he won so that's all that matters.

 

And so it is with cherry picked software designs like gameworks where the source code is off limits or excessive tessellation to disproportionately hurt amd performance.  AMD has their own issues, but this stuff piles on and the nvidia fans don't give a damn.  By hook or by crook, they believe in winners and winning for its own sake.
