Anybody want some DDR RAM (that's no TYPO! ) ?

AlTech

Hi guys,

When i was at school around 2 years ago me and 2 of my friends saw one of my school's old servers being put next to the trash. We kindly asked the IT department if we could have it and they said, sure! So we scavenged for parts and came out with some ancient stuff. It had a pentium processor (don't remember which one) a floppy disk, 1GB RAM and some extras. I got to keep most of the RAM and have just left it in a plastic box in my room since then.

So I got to keep 768Mb of DDR RAM (3 256Mb Dimms) by Miron (1 of them) and Infineon (2 of them).

2 of them have CL 2.5 while one has CL 3

1 is a DDR 333Mhz

1 is a DDR 266MHz

1 is a DDR 400MHz

anybody interested?

I have no use for this and it's wasting space.

So anybody want it?

256MB DDR1 sticks? They'd be worth less than the price of the stamps used to ship them.

They do have quite a bit of gold on them and they look so retro.

yeah, but setting stuff on fire to recover a tiny bit of gold, I don't think that's how it works.

Since when does P3 use DDR1? If it was PC100/PC133 I'd definitely be interested but otherwise no.

Thats like saying that old towels are just old towels to a towel collector

Even though they are common, they probably have a huge history behind them since they are server RAM sticks

What's that even supposed to mean? Also since they're server RAM sticks they're probably ECC which usually (AFAIK) doesn't work in older normal motherboards.

EDIT: Yeah, when I had my Asus P4P8X (RIP in peace. Was last seen being used as a test bench last year, I assume someone threw it out by accident. Still has a place in my heart.) I couldn't use ECC RAM and (For whatever reason, since it had 4 slots and supported 64 bit OSes) wouldn't boot at all with more than 3.5GB installed.

The RAM sticks can be used for spare parts, or just collecting, its not like collectors are going to use these RAM sticks in normal computers

There is a huge following for old servers/computers, and these RAM sticks could be used as spare parts, or just to collect

And with historical value, i mean that collectors often want to know the history behind the parts/computers, like shown in the video LGR is happy that it came with a log book, explaining what the servers have gone through

Although maybe DDR1 memories arent old enough to have any real demand yet
