Why would .22lr be rimfire then?    For that matter why make rimfire at all?

If center fire is better, even if rimfire is still plenty good enough, I'm confused why both exist?

Rimfire is much cheaper. .22lr is normally ~6-10 cents per round while 9mm is ~20-30 cents per round.

Plus .22lr has even less blast and recoil than something like 9mm, so it's very well suited to new shooters and/or small game hunting (rabbits, squirrels etc.)

Cheaper is always nice.

I'm not sure what making 22lr in only rimfire has to do with shooting bunnies though...

Sorry.  People are free to hunt I suppose.   I'm not the boss of everyone.  But personally I'm opposed to killing cute animals like bunnies or squirrels.  ?

Are there any particular brands of guns you'd suggest?

As far as handgun builds go glock is probably the easiest to build from scratch.  In terms of after market parts they are pretty much the AR15 of the handgun world.

Wow, I did not know this thread existed.  I am very happy to see a thriving gun community among the tech geeks.  I've read through a few pages though and find it lacking just a bit in the gun porn department so I think I'll add my $0.02.

In the order pictured...

Para Ordnance P7.45 1911 - .45 ACP

Sig Sauer P238 HDW  - .380 ACP

Sig Sauer 1911-22 - .22 LR

So suggestions on a laser for a Ruger Scout (223)? It's got a forward picatiny rail on it that I'll be putting a Vortex Sparc II on. I can also put an adapter on the forward swivel stud to give me a picatiny rail there so suggestions on a decent laser to put on? Currently considering a TLR4 from Streamlight but I'm open to suggestions. Also condisering the Protac HL-X too

I've used the TLR4 before.  It's a great bit of kit and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Any alternatives I should be looking at or that'd be the best bet?

The Surefire X400 is probably a better Laser/Light combo if you want THE BEST.  But I don't think it's worth 4x the price.  The TLR4 is pretty damn good for the money.

Sadly that doesn't work for all of us.  I tried building one in my HVAC class. Things didn't end well...

Renewed my ND CCW yesterday.

Unfortunatly in ND you have to sit through the whole 6 hr class to renew a Class 1 permit. Hard to believe it's been five years already.

Some of those people in the class scare me, the instructor had to actually explain the difference between a moon clip, magazine, and speed loader to one guy. I almost facedesk'd.

Luckily we don't need a class for renewal here in Ohio unless you let your old card expire for too long.  And yeah, there are idiots everywhere.

Hello.  Idiot here.  ?

What's a moon clip?

Would you have some brands of guns to suggest btw?  I'm considering getting a pistol but idk what the best brands are in terms of quality and reliability.
