Give up on your German Mauser dream haha.

Dang... When did you get your Mauser? Early 2000's? 90s?

Got the Mosin and the Enfield back in the late 90's.  The Argentine Mauser was more recent but got lucky and the price on that wasn't bad.

Seems I have a thing for short carbine length bolt guns. Steyr M95 carbine, Enfield No5 Carbine, the M-44 Mosin and my Mauser.

I haven't gotten one of the German Mauser's yet but I do have an Argentine Mauser.  It's the 1891 Engineers Carbine.

I have a 91-30 I got for ~$100 years ago, but now I wish I had picked up an M44 carbine then too. Good thing I got several boxes of the surplus ammo though XD

I got a Springfield 1903 carbine when my grandfather passed away 2 years ago. I'm pretty sure it was my great-grandfather's WWI service rifle, he was in one of the first tank battalions. I also got a Springfield 1884 handed down as well (opposite of a carbine though..haha).

Picked up a 10/22 stock from mike’s stocks for the factory barrel as I like the light tapered ones more than the heavy bull barrels, even fluted ones. $518 after taxes. Cost about double the bull barrel stocks, but the plus is I don’t need an expensive bull barrel so the cost evens out. Pairing it with a 10/22 carbine with a blued threaded barrel. SAFE act registered, as much as the safe act is bullshit and has only 4% compliance I will comply so I don’t get charged with a Class E felony. Once I move out of NY, probably to Mass, I’ll get a tax stamp and suppressor, plus a BFSIII binary trigger (illegal in NY) to go with it. Or, hopefully the SAFE act and ideally also the ban on suppressor use for hunting are repealed and I don’t move out.

IMG_3048.jpeg

oh and the grain is MUCH nicer than any of the bull barrel stocks.

Damn ... Hk vp9 are 7->800 bucks!

I need it.... But I don't .... But it's the gun that my body knows inside and out.

Considering the money I spend on other stupid stuff, I think getting the hk vp9 will save me money.

I think I'm going to bite the metaphorical bullet...

I did a heck a lotta training with the hk vp9, so now my body is like "this is how guns should be" and it's terrible because I don't own one and I shoulda jumped on one that was on sale for $500.

It'll be the last semiautomatic pistol I buy. Unless I get one in .45 haha

It's soooo nice... And it has a paddle/lever mag release which is ambidextrous.

The walthers are pretty nice but... The PDP feels like it's just following American pistol trends and I kinda hate it. And they're basically discontinuing the PPQ lines for the PDP...

So as great as the PPQ grip is, I don't want to buy into a gun that won't be supported and is being replaced by the P.O.S. PDP.

But they're nice and low ish cost.

Usp is stupid though. Even the navy seals that requested it got it and were like "this is dumb... Who ordered this?" And it was designed by like some pencil pusher as the scar was.

Vp9 is where it's at.

Glock is good too. The spec ops guy that trained me uses a stock Glock with a red dot and lefty mag release.

Man, I bought my Hellcat Pro Gear Up bundle for just over $500. That sounds like a steal, honestly.

I still want a 1911, also in .45 because there are no other calibers for a 1911. One of these days I'll sit down and make an actual wishllist of guns I want.

I've been thinking about getting into competitive shooting in the next year or two, and I might buy a Glock 17 or something to try in USPSA's Production division if I don't decide to just show up with my ancient G22 instead.

What I'm really tempted to do is buy the smol Hellcat, swap in a threaded barrel, slap a red dot and a comp on it, get the 13 round magazine, and have that as a carry gun.

I'll see how that goes after I get some more time with the Hellcat Pro(my idea of a tricked out Hellcat would be nearly the same footprint as my Pro), but getting a comp and a red dot for sacrificing 2 rounds sounds like a good deal to me.

I started wondering why I should hyperfocus on shooting well with my carry gun when I can also simply make it easier to shoot in the first place, thus the idea was born.

1911 are pretty cool, but practically speaking, polymer guns are kinda the way to go.

Me too. If I go for this VP9, I'll probably hit the range multiple times per week.

yeah, idk... the reason I got the Walther PPS M2 was cuz it was easier to hold/shoot than I imagine a micro gun to shoot.
I think "Sub Compact" aren't bad to shoot. But guns equivalent to the "cricket" from Men In Black I hear are a pain in the neck...
Even with my Walther, the barrel is kinda short and every time I shoot, un-burnt gun powder litters my action.
But it fits in my pocket so.... Easy grab and go option.
Double stack guns are pretty thicc and would stick out quite obviously.

Yeah, I really just want a 1911 as a range queen moreso than something I'd practically and realistically use, especially defensively. USPSA does have a single stack division too, though...

Subcompact isn't bad at all. My buddy's Hellcat is a lot of fun to shoot, and I've been told in several places online that the Hellcat Pro is a compact/subcompact that shoots like a full size.

Spoiler

Me finding out while pulling Hellcat specs that Springfield actually makes and sells the tricked out Hellcat that I talked about
https://www.springfield-armory.com/hellcat-series-handguns/hellcat-rdp-micro-compact-handguns/

What I particularly love about the Hellcat is how tiny it is while still being a double stack with high capacity. The normal Hellcat with the 13 round magazine is very similar in size to your PPS M2:

https://www.springfield-armory.com/hellcat-series-handguns/hellcat-3-micro-compact-handguns/hellcat-3-micro-compact-osp-9mm-handgun/

Width: 1 inch

Height: 4.5 inches w/ 13 round magazine

Length: 6 inches

Hellcat Pro is 1" wide, 4.8" tall, 6.6" long, with 15 round capacity.

PPS M2 is right between them:

Width: 1 inch

Height: 4.4 inches

Length: 6 inches

Capacity: 6-8 rounds

Yeah that's what I was thinking.

Demolition ranch bought a 2~2.5k 2011 and decided "I don't want to baby this" and immediately took it to an intense pistol shooting defense class to scuff it up so he wouldn't be scared to scuff it later.

Wow, yeah they are pretty close.

That rediculous kitted out hell kitten thing is probably the wackiest best thing I've seen without meaning to be belittling.

At least there's some form of practical innovation and consideration, especially in CCW.

The high points of CCW was the PPK in like 1930... The PPS M1 in like 2009, and then.... Well, we can also credit Glock for their high capacity lightweight guns.

3 major CCW innovations and now Springfield claimed the 4th.

I will probably never buy a 2011, no matter how many times I rewatch John Wick, although it does seem like it'd be an amazing competition gun.

I'm not a huge fan of the Gen 2 Glock grip, but the Gen 4 and Gen 5 seem a lot nicer. I don't hate my G22 grip, it does work pretty well, I just don't find it as comfortable as my Hellcat. The main reason I was thinking of a G17 is that it's the same frame as the G22(fun fact), so it would already be a platform I'm somewhat familiar with, just more modern.

I totally get it. Way I see it, if I can conceal a Hellcat Pro, I'd pretty much just be sacrificing 2 rounds to carry the Kitted Kitten(this is what I'm calling it now) and it would be a more consistent shooting experience - red dot for faster target acquisition, comp for easier recoil control - why the heck not?

I definitely haven't ruled out having multiple carry setups either.

Glock honestly amazes me a little bit. It's a little mindblowing that Glock rolled up in the 1980s with a superior pistol design that just has not changed much in the past 40 years. Say what you will about Glocks but, in my mind, the fact that they've been so prevalent for 40 years does speak for itself.

The 2011 is "the" competition gun.
Lots of polymer stuff is trying to break into that with "competition" and "long" variants.
Considering every duty pistol and its knock off doody pistol clone is getting the ability to install a flared magwell, a 58 round stendo mag, and a red dot, the allure of the 2011 is not holding its water anymore.
Even my PPS M2 has an alternate variant/slide with a pre-installed red dot haha.

What's wrong with the Gen 2? It's boxy like the Gen 5.
Gen 4 has finger grooves which I think you and I are the only people that don't completely hate them iirc.

Glock is great, but I like the idea of supporting competition.
If I had more trigger time on a Glock, I'd probably go that way, but I'm only getting a VP9 because I know it inside and out in terms of handling.
I only bought the Walther PPS M2 over the Glock 43 because it was cheaper and the grip was better and the sales rep really wanted to push an after market trigger on the Glock sales... which like... sod off?

My brother has a glock, my friend has a glock, that spec ops guy has a glock. I'm just being a south park goth and being an anti conformist hahaha.

Spoiler

I'll just slip in my video talking about how I decided on the pistol I bought here

All my gun videos are unlisted now or private.

What's wrong with the Gen 2? It's boxy like the Gen 5.
Gen 4 has finger grooves which I think you and I are the only people that don't completely hate them iirc.

I don't like the texture of the Gen 2 grip a whole lot. What I love about the Hellcat so dang much is how it "molds" itself to my hand, the G22 bites into my hand more.

Glock is great, but I like the idea of supporting competition.

I'm with you on this 100%.

Most of my handgun trigger time is on a Glock, it's kinda whatever to me; Glock mostly captures my interest in the design aspect, in how it's been a great pistol from the start. I find that pretty fascinating.

I get it. Glocks are everywhere, they're like Remington 870s and AR-15s in that regard. Although, the AR-15 being popular was one of the selling points that made me buy one.

Buddy of mine has an M&P that I considered, but it fell into the same "problem" your Walther does for me: why have a gun that small with only 8+1 capacity when the Hellcat exists? It feels great to shoot, don't get me wrong, but when I can have much better capacity in a near-identical size, I'd rather have the capacity.

Ah yeah. The m&p pistols are pretty aggressive in grip texture, so I can get that.

Are your hands really soft?

Mine are because I always wear gloves when I do things. I think people with rougher hands prefer rougher grips.

Yeah, it's a fantastic product.

Some people got tilted when I called walthers "Glock clones" when their high level design is that of a Glock. But they are so... So what?

I don't think I mind the popularity. I just happen to avoid it when it comes to pistols by happenstance.

Tbh looking back, I was pretty eager to get a Glock 19x until I found out how expensive it is.

I held off on the AR-15 because I experienced a lot of malfunctions when shooting others'. Then I shot a bunch of AR in training and was like "woah, this gun is really good" and living in a restricted state, the "other type" was the only way to get a "regular" AR. They were always like 2 grand which... Nah, especially with their lame attachments and goofy designs to look "cool" instead of just regular.

Since I've gotten mine, I can't recall a malfunction except with the 22lr conversation kit.

Yeah.

One of the real reasons I went PPS m2 was cuz the restricted state limited ammo capacity. If I couldn't hold 20~ rounds, might as well not care if it's single or double stack.

I'm not sure what I'd do if I could have gotten double stack, but I think I'd have considered the Glocks, ppq & vp9 more intensely despite their higher prices.

I don't know what I'd do for the Springfield guns. I did just forget about them when shopping.

I don't think my hands are rough, but I don't wear gloves as much as you so they might be rougher than yours.

My AR was the first gun I bought. Kitted it for home defense, then started buying handguns. The only problem I've had so far is that 1/100 steel cased rounds will fail to eject. Brass .223 and 5.56 work with no issues though.

That's rough, what were you limited to?

Oof.. I'm lucky then because everything works in my AR.

Is yours a gas direct impingement?

Or is yours a short stroke gas piston?

Also what is yours chambered in? Mine is 5.56, not 223. The steel case I get is 223

10 rounds.

The funny part is that the gun store sold 10 round 50 Beowulf mags for AR-15 stamped "for use ONLY with 50 Beowulf"

Damn ... Hk vp9 are 7->800 bucks!

I need it.... But I don't .... But it's the gun that my body knows inside and out.

Considering the money I spend on other stupid stuff, I think getting the hk vp9 will save me money.

I think I'm going to bite the metaphorical bullet...

Did you see forgotten weapons was loaned the new hi point carbine?

I didnt even know they made one in that caliber until you pointed it out!  Nice!
