Seriously, he's been doing this every video. Is anybody else very annoyed?

Its not begging it just how he is on promoting his videos. I thinks it original.

Besides he has said use the like button to answer his question about what he suggested the next video idea could be.

I don't mind the asking if it were after the movie, however when every video beings with a "like to see more," it gets kind of annoying :/

You call that begging? It is a short and quick reminder to express our opinions. He wants you to dislike or like. He's not telling you to specifically like the video.

 

Unless I am missing something? Besides, even if it were true, so what? If it annoys you I suggest you stop watching the videos or to stop getting annoyed over senseless/useless things.

So many threads like this, I'm not bothered in the slightest by any Youtuber let one person doing this. Sure it's changed from when they used to say it at the end of the video but i don't see how it's different at all

I am really starting to get tired of repeating myself.

Pretty sure i explained it quite perfectly. If he asks you to like something to show that you will be interested in seeing something, then like it. If you are not interested in seeing something, then do not like it. It is not begging, it is using the like/dislike feature as a way of gauging reactions from an audience.

Do they actually take the likes/dislikes of those specific videos into consideration before releasing the video they tease in them? No idea. They might be able to chime in on that, but i do not really care either way. If the video is a subject i care about, i will watch it. If it does not pertain to my interests, i will ignore it. If the video satisfies me, i will like it. If it does not, i will dislike it. This should be a really simple concept by now. Why it is still questioned is beyond me.

Can't tell what OP is referring to, but I think telling people to "like if you liked, dislike if you disliked" is fine.

 

 

What I do think is a cheap cop out is when they say to

"like this video if you want to see our video on ___________"

 

The problem is that people go "well ok, yeah, I want to see that video, hurr durr!" and click like, which totally throws off the whole vote system, and makes it pointless to vote at all. Totally makes voting irrelevant for anyone who's actual intention was to click based upon their like/dislike of the video, because the whole thing is now skewed with people clicking for a completely different reason.

 

It's cheap imo, and I really wish they'd stop doing it. What is the threshold for the number of 'likes' they need to hit for them to actually post a video? Would they not post the upcoming video they're advertising if they were below that threshold? How would we even know? 

THIS.... you got it spot on but on top of that the video is usually already made as ive seen it come out like the next day or so so what was the point of liking the video for it to be made ? but i dont think it will be that skewed from people liking if they like it

If he says "Like this video if you liked it, dislike it if you dislike it" i have no problem, that is what you explained. if hes begging for likes like he did in the last few videos, it annoys me. He is not asking us to rate the video based on if we like it or not, but like it to see "luke benchmark a 10k$ rig". 

 

Which is it? Is he on the path to begging for likes like the first quote, or is he already on that path like you claim in the second quote? Speaking of ignorance, lets talk about you being ignorant for a second. I have explained several times in this thread that you are not forced to like or dislike a video, at all. When he says "like if you like, dislike if you dislike" it is to be taken as a reminder. If he says "like this video to see X video later", then perhaps you should think "maybe he is going to use this CURRENT video's like/dislike ratio to determine whether or not people want to see something". Begging implies you want something without giving anything in return. It also requires some sort of humble connotation to it. Seeing as he is giving a video in return for likes, it cannot be seen as begging, in both the literal and rhetorical sense. 

 

You are right about one thing though. It would be a waste of your time to discuss this with me because there is nothing to discuss. The entire point of this thread is moot. The only valid point brought up in this thread was by @xeromynd, and he said it best himself.

Cheap? Yes. It can be seen as cheap. Can it be seen as begging? No. Now that this problem has been solved, ill move on to ending world hunger once and for all.

I'm wondering why people care about that.

He's giving you a good reminder to actually like the video, just think of it as that.

 

That's exactly how I see it, especially on my Smart TV where liking a video is much more tedious than how it is supposed to be. I have to press pause, scroll along a menu, press a down button to go into another menu, then press like. I usually do it on the outros of videos if I liked it. The video playback interface is also so sluggish that it's not worth going back in to like a video if you forget to.

As Linus said on his post on this thread, it may serve as a reminder but it also serve as a statistics of what type of content people actually like to watch by seeing whats more liked and whats more disliked so he can produce more video towards what his viewers like the most.
