I've heard some 13 year olds at school claiming that they downloaded more bits for their computer, my friend and I finding it rather amusing asked if they downloaded more ram as well which of course they said they had...

I think you can download ram drive though, but not the same thing xD

Not so much people claiming they know everything, but...

 

This happens often: I'll be playing League of Legends, and one of two things will occur. Either it will be someone saying they're excited to play on their new rig, or that they just got a new Mac.

 

This is how it typically goes: "Excited to play on my new rig! Playing on low on my old craptop was awful." "That's cool! What do you got under the hood?" "Well it's an ASUS gaming motherboard." "...cool.."

 

or

 

"Just installed League on my new Macbook, bitches. Time to play the game like it's meant to be played." "I'm playing at 240FPS on a 6870... My rig cost' half as much as your laptop." 

"lol kid... You don't know what you're talking about. Macs are better for League."

So hilar...

One of my childhood friend got a PC when he was like 10 years old. Those were the Pentium I days and internet wasn't even discovered in our brain.

So one day he came to show off and said "my computer is the latest model and it's connected to the moon. When I type Computer tell me what happen on moon. The computer shows me the latest picture of moon"

I was like cool but had doubts. So couple of years later found out it was complete BS lol

My friend thinks his FX-6300 and 270X (or 260X, can't remember which) will beat the shit out of my rig. All he does is play the old Fallout games and TF2.

 

My other friend thinks that anything not-Apple sucks, and that I was lying when I ran OS X on "a Microsoft." You know, because making a Hackintosh is so hard.

Some kid said he has an Alienware Area 51 and he changed out the processor "for the best one" even though it already had a 5820k and he also "turbo boosted it" (I know that's what it's called in the BIOS but I swear that he doesn't know what a BIOS is. He claims that his PC is way better than mine and doesn't even know what a graphics card is. Guess that there are always people like that.

A 'friend' from my school got asked to build a computer for his uncle with a budget of £400.

 

When we got back from school he messaged me with a link to pcpartpicker.com asking me what I thought of it (keep in mind he's only built one computer before and now he thinks he knows everything). The build wasn't too bad really, it would do for a while but he only had spent £180 on it overall. I asked him why and he said his uncle wouldn't need anymore. The Mobo he had picked out was cheaper than the stick of 4GB RAM he had found. Is it just me or should a motherboard be even a little bit more expensive than one stick of RAM? I told him that the build isn't bad but just won't last long at all. He told me that his uncle doesn't need much more and can just buy a new computer if he needs to.

 

Why bother building one if he's going to get a new one in a couple of months?

 

EDIT: His current build is a AMD-8350 and a GTX 970 in a cheap £30 case. Not sure on the other parts. Thought I'd just add this in.

The laptop I had before was a Toshiba Satellite S855D. As soon as I first brought it into my school, a friend of mine immediately said how the hinge would break in six months.

Every half-wit knows it's called AlienFX. Literally know that from playing around with demo models for like a total of 30 minutes in Best Buy 2 years ago when they still had them. :P

This is a pretty long story. LOL

I have this friend who just recently got interested in PCs etc so now he thinks he s the smartest in the world well that cant be helped so he goes on bragging how his father got the best gaming pc ever and im like standing there wondering what kind of father gets a gaming pc if hes not even intrested so he keeps on bragging giving half baked specs and im like sitting there thinking hes totally BSing  so i come over there and give him a couple of questions (i forgot what i asked) so he attemps to answer it and then i ask him one more question "ok (his name) so what games is he playing" and he was silent  than he says GTA V and im like standing there surprised (Note* GTA V did not come out for PC back then) so what setting are u running he said 4k im like ok so what graphics setting he got confused and said there isnt any graphic setting so after that I got tired of arguing and searched up gta v for pc to prove that there was no such thing YET. Inside i knew he was crying out of embarrassment and im laughing (inside) 

Turns out his father got a plain Dell *cough mainstream *cough cough nothing special so he never told a story about pc and that stuff until this day or about a month ago since hes been researching

Well I had one guy (randomly came up to me and my friends at school during lunch) tell me that he got into the super-secret "developers guild" at Microsoft (yes, he actually said that) and they let him play around with the new unreleased version of Windows (the Windows 10 developer preview) and proceeded to pull out his laptop for all my non-tech savy friends to see. 

 

They were impressed until I pulled out my laptop and showed them the exact same thing, and then the site where you sign up for the preview.

 

Anyways, he hates me to this day.

So, my friend (who claims he is extremely knowledgable about every thing tech) was giving me all this heat about how I didn't know what I was talking about with building a PC and I was BSing. He comes over to my house and see's the external build sitting on the table. Immediately he claims I had it wrong and I didn't know what I was talking about. So, I ask what I did wrong, and he says that I got a terrible build and I'm going to fry my components. He claims that my GPU is terrible so I ask him why. I then proceed to find out he had no idea what a GPU was. It was literally right on the MOBO protruding and he had no idea where it was.

 

So... thats my story.
