Steam Hacked

So yesterday, my steam account got hacked.  the story is: at around 6:30 AM yesterday someone gained access to my steam account and sold my Glock-18 water elemental, which was worth almost $10 for $2.61.  they then took $400 from my paypal and spent it on 2 Galil AR VariCamos which are worth $0.07 each.  my suspicion is that he listed them for 100 each and made me buy them so he could get the 100 dollars.  i contacted steam support and they refunded my $400 but i lost my water elemental and i cant use my account online.  I have completed the steps that steam told me to do, but they have yet to respond.  I really hope that they get back to me soon.  I will provide an update when they get back to me.  attached is the message that steam shows when I login to my account.post-66350-0-65934000-1433341912.png

Damn that sucks. But wow how happy I'd be to have Steam reimburse my $400 :o  Had no idea they'd do that, since they are in no way obligated.

Hope you get your problems resolved, I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't access my steam account online :angry:

My rule of thumb is, "give it a week."

 

Steam wants to make sure you've completely illiminated all chances... I say all, I mean as many as possible.

I'm going to be very cautious. I feel like I want to change my password, but that might put my in more shit. I'm really hoping the two threads about it today are just a sign of that old message thing that was going around with the screensaver file; which means it's avoidable.

 

Still, not a good sign by any means...

That's why my password is 25 characters, 2 Capitol letters, two random words, and 4 numbers placed in different parts.

But yeah, that sucks man. Nice of them to reimburse you, though. Have patience with support, they usually take a while to respond. :)

this is such a common issue with counter strike... I suggest everyone out there update there password, and activate that guard thing so if someone tries to login they'll need that 4-5 digit code as well.

People really need to strengthen there accounts and not click random links.

Just use the marketplace and that's it. Dont be so damn greedy/needy with these private trades.
