Twitch bans Adults Only games in the United States.

Will someone please THINK OF THE CHILDREN?????????

 

 

It's stupid imo. There are a growing number of streams that show poker and gambling but thats ok.  Also, don't forget the numerous boobcam streams where it's some random "gamer girl" showing nothing but cleavage and begging for donations. lol america and its censorship.

NO censorship is okay. Children go on the website? Okay, have the parents sent boundaries, put up some security or something. Don't punish other people for it.

 

I honestly don't think children should be on a streaming site to begin with...how do you stop streamers from doing or saying something that won't "hurt" them or upset parents? You can't and censorship won't help anything.

I guess it's their site so they can do what they want but still... WTF, put a disclaimer or something on it like youtube and call it a day...

I mean, the hot coffee thing with GTASA let you see the sex scenes in game, but in GTA V you can go into a strip club and hold a girl's hips while she gives you a topless lap dance. I'm not saying that banning GTASA is such a bad thing (though I don't think they should bother, it's a parent's job to teach their kids right and wrong), but doing that and not banning GTA V shows that Twitch is being a bit of a cash cow (and is also trying not to piss too many off.)

 

So that means Witcher 3 is out? Will they really kill such a popular game or just appease Amazon by removing a 10 year old fucking game nobody streams like San Andreas?

What are the 28 games that have an AO rating? Also if they start classifying certain games in a different way to try and sneak certain games into their live streams what will Twitch do?  Do streamers get a warning for streaming something they shouldn't have if they honestly didn't know it was not allowed? As for getting rid of certain **** in society I am all for it but I am interested to see what Twitch in the future will and won't allow.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

Controversial? Only if you make it. Now I know most people would say "GTA is just as bad as Hatred." In a sense. But I feel that Hatred is centered around the people who actually want to go out and kill people for no reason. Just a really "dark" game if you will.

I understand Twitch is fully within their right to do something like this, but they should have locked it out to accounts only, so you have to have an active account with Twitch to watch these streams. I know young kids can create accounts and lie about their age, but it just seems silly to ban AO games from being streamed when we have games that show almost the same content that are M+.

We've been over this before: Trevor as a character centered entirely about killing people for no reason. He's the only character who has a rampage mode. There's no redeeming qualities whatsoever about him, yet he's ok and Hatred isn't. That's just hypocrisy, people indulge in senseless killing sprees all the time and made GTA the most popular franchise on videogaming yet Hatred is usually not ok with the same people: bullshit.

 

It's just another one on the long list of games being singled out like Postal, Soldier of Fortune, etc.

well the only game in that list that I may or may not will miss, is San Andreas.

Don't have any interest in watching the other ones.

 

But I still hate this sort of censoring, but I guess I can understand.

As long as M-rated games will still be allowed.

Wait wait wait, so Twitch have officially killed off the GTA:SA speedrunning scene now through Twitch.. Meaning Trilogy runs will now never happen, ruining marathons around this type of thing, also general speedrunners who run Any% for GTA:SA can't stream it anymore?

Actually, if a game that is rated 18+ by PEGI is also rated AO by the ESRB, it can't be streamed on twitch.

 

Hatred is an example of this as it is rated 18+ by PEGI but holds an AO rating by the ESRB.

This is the entire Twitch site, it doesn't matter where you live or where you stream from. ESRB rated Adult Only games are prohibited and it's only the ESRB. So Adult Only rated games in other countries is fine if they aren't rated AO by the ESRB for North America.

 

Let's say Australia rates a game like GTA as Adult Only, it can still be streamed if it's rated Mature in North America. But if it's rated Adult Only in North America by the ESRB then GTA cannot be streamed.

 

There were already rules about nudity + pornographic content as a focus of a stream which eliminates most Adult Only games aside from real money gambling. These terms are completely about the upcoming release of Hatred which has gotten an AO rating from the ESRB.
