USB - Power Button (yes - on_off)

eece_ret

This only sounds stupid and Im hoping someone has a nice hack or such a USB accessory exists.

My desktop consists of two computers, a desktop and a laptop.  The desktop drives a couiple monitors and teh Laptop drives a monitor.  I stitch it all together using MS-Mouse Without Borders to provide a nice seamless workflow.

The laptop is attached to the monitor by way of USB-C, so a nice single cable solution and is stowed under its monitor and lives its life lid closed.

The issue surrounds, how to turn it on.  Once shutdown (or hibernate, or stand by) I have no way to wake or power on the laptop without pulling it from under the monitor, opening it and pressing power button.

If there was a ?USB? power button or similar it would allow me to power--on/Wake the laptop without extricating from under the monitor.

Thoughts?

Lenovo has this feature in their docks for thinkpads. I don’t have that one but I have a better dock and My work L15gen2 has a feature to turn the device on when it receives power BUT that dumb fucking feature doesn’t work when lid is closed. In the end I gave up on shutting down and pretty much never turn the damn thing off.

Wake on LAN is a possibility if you connect your laptop to your network via wired connection.

Funny My wife has a thinkpad with a dock that has this button and is why I ask if anyone has seen something similar, outside the Thinkpad Dock.
