The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn't understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.

A ) It works exactly the same in any orientation, there is no such thing as upside down.

B ) It could be in that orientation because that provided the best cable run (between the cooler fan and the fan header).

The text on the sticker is the wrong way, therefore it's updide down.

And it was a joke. Obviously the cooler is the exact same performance wise whichever way it is orientated. :P

I'm actually really glad that my Research Writing teacher at least knows that the CPU doesn't mean the computer, but one of the parts inside of it. He calls himself the "second-least technical professor in this college" too, but at least he knows that CPU doesn't mean computer.

it's kinda stupid, you know like "I'm older so I know more about PC's than you"... It's stupid... than you ask what a SSD is and they said it doesn't exist *facepalm*

Well the good thing is he isn't a tech professor. The tech professors at my college meanwhile actually know what they're talking about and inform us of their credentials at the start of each class.

I feel sorry for you. I bet that would suck so bad. I hate tiny routers, as they just tend to work for 3 weeks than go die on you.

It always overheated, but ran for about 5 years before BT got fed up of us complaining about our slow internet speed and sent us a free HomeHub 3 to shut us up. Needless to say it didn't improve our speed any (that's simply to do with the distance from exchange and cabinet), but having a more modern router with better firmware on it, wifi and enough ethernet ports was nice.

So I was in the computer lab at school today during science.  The computers were off, so we turned them on.  The girl next to me was mashing her mouse.  I told her that doing that does nothing, and she is just wasting energy.  She responded saying that mashing the buttons on the mouse will make it boot faster.  She refused to accept the fact that doing that does nothing  -_-

Better than my class mates, who thought that spinning on the sound's bar sound controller? would make Windows boot faster.... *ultrafacepalm*

So a friend wanted to plug his phone into my USB 2.0 supercharger port, because the battery had only like 5% power. He wasn't looking and kept jamming the USB cable into my Ethernet port.

Needless to say, I got mildly annoyed. We are IT students as well.

He is also claimed his phone was better than his laptop, because it had a quad-core, and the laptop 'only had a dual-core'.

Laptop: Intel Core i5-4200H, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce 840M

Desktop: Intel Core i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

Our old router was a BT voyager 220V which had no wifi and only two wired ports. However only one of them was ethernet, and my computer was plugged into the other port via USB cable. Yup. USB internet connection. Good times.

I had one of those. at least at that time there was only 1 pc in the house. when we switched ISPs to plusnet they gave is the one we have now which only supports wireless b/g :(

so this one time I was hanging out with my friend who is the manager at a tech shop by where I live and a girl comes in and buys a 2tb hard drive. we let her know that we install hard drives for $1 (the cost of the sata cable we use) and she says "just because I am a woman does not mean I cant work on computers" and leaves in a huff. two days later she comes back in saying that the HDD is not working so we take the computer in to look at it, we open it and the HDD is nowhere to be seen, so we ask her where it is. and it turns out that she scanned it and put the scanned image on her desktop to install the drive. and to top that off she threw away the drive she paid almost $200 for and she wanted us to give her a new one.

I think that is the greatest thing I have ever read xD

Someone in my class once had to connect his laptop to the beamer as example student. He asked to the teacher how to safe his file. The teacher answered he had to use ctrl+s. The student (16 years old btw) just typed ctrl+s in his document and was wondering why it wasn't working. Everyone started laughing and when the teacher turned around he could do nothing but facepalm. :P

In computer science, we were answering a question: "does anyone know what a browser plugin is and how it works?".  So this is how it went.

Other guy: Plugins are things that you plug into your computer to make...

Teacher: Sorry, thats wrong, do you want to add anything.

Other guy: No.

Me: Exuse me, I'll addon for this guy.

And then I answered it right.  Damn. This guy would have made us loose.  Because I answered a question wrong in computer science by accident :(  So, if I lost that.  I would have had to stay in.

A friend came to check out my new pc a weak ago and we talked about getting him a new pc because he wants to play games but his 7yr old pc is just crap.

Me: "Come on man, you could easily spemd 800$ for a new pc like I have" (he has 4k of saves up money)

Him: "I dont know...I was thinking more about getting the iMac"

Some guy at college was talking about how Macs are good because they are way faster than windows and are more powerful.  He also said macs NEVER have problems.  Firstly, that is completley wrong because Macs are not faster than Windows, Mac is lighter than windows but its mainly the hardware and that can be WAY better on a pc.  Secondly, Macs have problems too.

A mac's biggest problem, is the fact that it is indeed, a mac.
