BEWARE OF GTA SHARK CARDS

shayned1997

To everyone that plays gta online I want you all to take a warning before buying shark cards. I bought a $20 shark card for ps3 on the launch date of PC release. Than later that night did a character transfer over to PC. The money from the shark card was not there when i did the transfer, so i called Rockstar and asked about this mistake. The person i talked to was very nice but according to their policy (which the lady could not tell me where i could see this in writing) if you transfer across platform families (PS3 to Pc, PS3 to Xbox One) Shark Card money does not go with it. So any money that you spend buying shark cards if you are going to transfer it is all going to waste. I jsut want to point this out to you guys since Rockstar has no problem with taking money from Shark Cards or from people like us (I have bought Ps3, PS4 and PC version of GTA) but they want to make their own rules and not give us what we pay for. I will not be spending anymore money on any Rockstar products after this. Which is a shame because like many of you I love Rockstars games and have bought and played many, the entire GTA series, the Entire Midnight Club series, Max Payne Series, Red Dead, Bully and LA Noire. Sad to see a company rip off its consumers like this.

while surprising to some people this is because of licensing problems, not the first time ive seen something like this, its not rockstars fault but thanks for the heads up.

Wait, did you actually buy the Shark Card for PS3 because you wanted the money on PC? I'd say that it's a little daft if you did, you should have waited until it came out for PC to buy them on the platform they're meant for.

I don't get why this is surprising... If I buy a season pass on PS4, I don't expect to have it on Xbone.

This is the same thing.

It should, yes. You bought it for one platform expecting it to work on the other. I don't necessarily think it's all your fault, Rockstar should have been more clear about what does and doesn't transfer over to PC, but you are still part to blame because of this.

Reading fine print is hard I assume? Or people assume too much without thinking.

I have heard about this before and was warned about it. I believe people that went from, let's say, the 360 to a ps4 also couldn't keep the shark cards.

My question here is why buy the game 3 times... I get wanting to play it on launch on the PS3... but why also on PS4? And now on PC? Surely you had played and finished the game entirely by then. You essentially gave Rockstar over $200 for the same game.

That's probably one of their reasons for doing a split release. (Porting doesn't take that long).

It's the ONLY reason, considering they had the highest budget ever spent on a single videogame. They could have had this exact pc version in 3 months had they wanted to.

is this a "coffee is hot" sort of thing?

I see what you mean, and it's a shame that they can't/wouldn't allow you to move shark cards from ps3 to pc, but it's not entirely unexpected. People originally weren't expectig to transfer anything.
