why do the dominator platinums have a cult following?

i just don't get it.

 

do they make girls dance?

do they make your 4k monitor 8k?

do they make your gtx560 perform like a titanX?

do they make you cream yourself when you look directly at them?

 

what's the deal?

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

but... my ballistic tracers have two sets of LEDs and the top set moves in rythme thus they're the best right? ..... RIGHT?!?!?!?!

Honestly I think they look like crap. They are overpriced as hell, You can get ram that can look better for cheaper, hell might even have better timings too for the price.

Some people like the looks and they're suppose to be Corsair's top end stuff, so they should have good binning.

I like them because my motherboard has a lot of silver and they work well with it (Serenity build in sig).

Appreciation of design is subjective. Like the DDR4 Ballistix Sport looks pretty good and cost far less than Dominator Platinums. Though in a build that is built heavily around looks they are like topping on a cake that may not need the extra appeal but it's there because it can. Sort of like if I could afford to do a 5960X build I would use Dominator Platinums because a high end build can use nice looking dims. That's because I like the black/silver sort of thing and it would fit into my black/white or monochrome scheme.

Dominator Platinums are pretty much the beats of ram (as said by pretty much everyone else, and what I essentially said in my comment.)
